Session 10: Yesterly Snows Report

General Summary

Sly Tony wanders through the forest: ravaged, hungry, feral. He spots a flower in the middle of a grove and kneels down to eat it, though just at that moment the Wanderlust Hotel comes hurtling out of the forest and hits him dead on - throwing him further into the woods and leaving the tavern in pieces. He wakes up several hours later to find the party camping out in the middle of the forest with the tavern's owner Marvin Bleak, who tells them that in order for them to make it to Holdenglade, the tavern needs to be fixed - and so spare parts need to be located.    So the party then sets off further into the Silver Grove Forest - first visiting an Estrialist Outpost and then stumbling into the village of Theraldin. Immediately, something felt off as they wandered into the village; the warm Sòlmic weather turning to snow. The further they got to the centre of the place and the more they talked to the locals revealed that they had somehow entered into a temporal anomaly - time traveling back to the year 6540 DE, before the Wars of Xandria. In a search for scrap metal, they talked to a small little goblin man named Nogg and the village artificer Roddick, who was certain that the Alderman Heigolor Hemingway was using Obliviax to alter the minds of the citizens, though he wasn't sure what for.   In return for his metal, the players then set out in search of the truth behind the Alderman's scheme and figured out that the day was infact repeating inside the temporal bubble, and Hemingway was using Obliviax that he acquired from the nearby Outpost to suppress the memories of the villagers and make them forget that they were in a loop at all. It's later revealed that the temporal loop was created by a Chronurgy Wizard, Lecias Reich, who wanted to expand his knowledge of Chronomancy; and so trapped the village in one repeating day. Hemingway, had learned the truth of this and fed his villagers Obliviax so they could live the best lives they could without knowing they were living the same day over and over again. Though, when the players caught wind that Hemingway was supposedly going to kill Nogg and Roddick, due to their deviation from the Alderman's lies, they rushed to the tower to stop the time loop, set the village free and save the two goblins.    After they had disarmed and dispelled all of the wizard's puzzles, Averel and Tony confronted Reich at the top of his tower. Just as the wizard exposed the truth of the village to them and warned them of the dangers of stopping the loop, another villager, Barthen Mayhart, rushed in and killed the wizard for glory and freedom - in turn stopping the anomaly and allowing 600 years of time to suddenly rush by the village. As time began to rapidly speed up, a young white dragon - a danger that both Reich and Hemingway worked to save the villagers from - brought the entire place to the ground in search for food, before freezing all of the citizens of the village to death. The party, just about escaping for their lives ran from the dragon as time was shifting around them and barely hung on for their lives as time accelerated through the Wars of Xandria and everything else that scarred the area - finally leaving them in the middle of the ruined village in the modern day, where a Mesilist outpost was now situated. Turns out, Roddick had left a special box of scrap metal in the ground for 600 years, just in case things turned sour, which the party returned to Bleak and the Wanderlust Hotel. At the end of what seemed to be a very confusing ordeal, the party once again set off in the newly renovated tavern in search of the city of Holdenglade.
