To everyone's surprise, even her own, The Stonemasons' Guild has flourished under Lux's guidance. She has avoided most of the politics but established a strong enough presence to ward off would-be power plays by the other Guilds. The biggest change she made was the guild's policy on accepting new members. She limited the Guild's members to a number she knew she could reliably get work for, thus anyone else wishing to join gets put on a waiting list until a spot opens up. This policy keeps the Guild small yet highly effective.
Appearance
Physical Description
Tall and broad-shouldered, even for a half-orc, Lux was built for physical labor. A lifetime of hard work has calloused her hands and a lifetime of lifting has given her a positively chiseled muscle-tone. In spite of her position as Guild Master, Lux has little interest in looking the part, and seeing her one the street, she'd still pass for a laborer. She wears nothing extravagant and keeps her pinned back to her head in tight cornrows for practicality's sake.
Mentality
Personal history
Lux was born in Castleton, a border city on the edge of The Howling Plains. Her human mother, Mariette, delivered her alone and never said a word about her father. As soon as Lux was old enough to survive the trip, Mariette moved away from Castleton, settling in Isomor. She worked as a waitress in a tavern, struggling to make ends meet. For Lux, the streets were her playground. She grew up strong and healthy, and by the time she was twelve, she was taking odd-jobs to help put food on the table. Her strength and size lent itself to manual labor and soon she took up helping with construction. It was then that she discovered she had an eye for engineering and architecture.
For three years she worked as part of the Stonemasons' Guild, but life for a laborer was hard, and the Guild Master's hatred of Half-Orcs did not make things any easier. He constantly overlooked her for jobs, took more out of her wages than he would others, and belittled her. Lux tried to put up with it, reminding herself that her mother needed her to keep her job, but eventually she couldn't anymore. After one instance where he took more than 50% of her payment for a job, Lux sent him a letter, pretending to be the client, requesting he come to the construction site. Once he was there, she confronted him - they argued and Lux lost her temper. Taking a hammer from the site, she lashed out, killing him in a single blow to the head. Almost on a whim she took the opportunity to declare herself Guild Master. In light of what she'd just done, no one opposed her.
Education
Lux has no formal education and in fact only in recent years has learned to read and write.
Morality & Philosophy
Lux has never spent much time developing a philosophy. She does what feels right in the moment and rarely questions herself. She believes there is no value in regret and insists on moving ever forward. While generally laid back and more-or-less friendly, Lux has an explosive temper that can escalate disagreements to violence with alarming speeds.
Personality
Motivation
Lux is primarily motivated by whims. Her only enduring loyalty is to her mother, who she would die for. She's not particularly interested in leading a life of comfort and ease, nor is she inclined to get particularly rich. So long as she is able to keep her mother comfortable and earn her own keep, she is content.
Virtues & Personality perks
Lux is honest, straight forward, and fairly laid back. As such, she tends to be easy to get along with and reliable to work with. She works hard and plays hard, throwing her all into everything she does.
Vices & Personality flaws
Lux can be mercurial and her explosive temper can make her dangerous to cross. She's prone to violence and talks better with her fists than her hands. Because she is driven by her whims, her priorities are constantly shifting, making her difficult to predict.
