Mark is a Guardian Battle-Bot model robot that has been fitted with rudimentary AI. He has been a member of the Bounty Hunter's Guild for years, having spent most of his time stationed at the Last Chance Station on Xanti. He's been a part of teams that have brought down several of Xanti's monstrous beasts but rarely ventures off-world to collect human bounties in the last few years. He is known to be an excellent guide to help prospective Bounty Hunters to traverse the Slush.
Mark ended up making a deal with William Blake while William hid in the Slush to provide him with gear, food, and supplies to facilitate his survival. William Blake held true to his promise after Mark and William Blake ambushed the crew of the Intrepid Explorer after Dash Reynard brought them into the Slush seeking to kill William. William ensured that Mark came with them when he and the crew negotiated his extraction from Xanti after the combat came to a mutually beneficial conclusion.
Mark traveled for several months with the Intrepid Explorer and formed a bond with one crew member in particular, Kyralin Straussedorph. He learned from their interactions with others and took the opportunity to see multiple planets. He saved a few of their lives during multiple combat engagements, even being shot by a sniper to protect them. Despite the reservations of the crew he once fought against, he proved himself to be a loyal companion when bullets started flying towards them.
Mark ended up trapped with the crew in Ein Sof after events led them to the former city of gold. He aided them as they traversed the city and helped take down multiple Corrupted Seraphim. After his former ally William Blake was enticed and corrupted into betraying the party by Orgeneous, Mark made the choice to stand with the party and fought against his former companion. His loyalty led to his demise, however, as the bomb William Blake had planted in him while "repairing" him earlier that day was triggered, killing both him and the rescued survivor Ladi.
His torso was dragged into the portal as the crew fled. Once arriving on New Avon, his torso was scrapped. His grappling arm was removed and his memory module pulled out by Alicia Candler. She left the memory module for the party after her decision to leave them behind. It was last retrieved, along with her note explaining her reasoning for departure, by Dash Reynard.
