Born in Ered Luin, the Blue Mountains, Rolfenar Stoutiron is a Dwarf Hunter and adventurer who also part-times in prospecting, woodworking and weaponsmithing. His own weapons of choice are his crossbow, his axe, and a boar-tooth dagger forged from his own kill. Naturally, Rolfenar very much enjoys hunting, fishing, and being outdoors, especially in his beloved Blue Mountains. And with a fondness for hearty food, a good drink, and hammering at a forge, he shares many of the same traits as his fellow Dwarven brethren. But, not everything is as easy for Rolfenar to embrace in his world.
Though mostly proud of his Dwarven culture, Rolfenar finds himself immensely not attracted to “female” Dwarves. As turned off as he is by his options, he instead chooses to remain alone. He continues to live this way for a very long time, until he fatefully accepts a quest that brings him to Needlehole, a boggy Dwarf-inhabited trading post on the outskirts of the Shire. It is during his stay in the Shire that he meets Bonbon Brandywine, a spinster Hobbit yeowoman who has also remained alone rather than subject herself to the pathetic, cowardly, unmasculine male Hobbits of her home land. Both repulsed with the opposite gender of their races, Rolfenar and Bonbon immediately feel attraction to each other. Rolfenar is attracted to Bonbon as a traditional feminine woman, and Bonbon is attracted to Rolfenar as a strong, masculine man. An unbearded woman and a bearded man, as it should be. Finally finding what they’ve been wanting for so long, the two begin an affair that becomes scandalous tea-time gossip within the quaint, green hills of the Shire. While Rolfenar is often away questing on adventures to make his living, Bonbon must endure the insufferably lazy, spoiled, and snooping Hobbits that surround her. Gradually, Rolfenar earns enough gold to purchase a larger home in the Thorin’s Hall Homesteads. He and Bonbon marry and she moves in with him, leaving her home in the Shire to be lived in and looked after by her young nieces.
Soon after, Rolfenar and Bonbon are blessed with a son, a surprise pregnancy they are overjoyed by as they believed they were no longer capable of conceiving in their older age.
Rolfenar especially is very proud and pleased. Perhaps a little too much boost to his male ego, but rightly deserved even so. He has worked hard to create and provide a nice, warm, comfortable home for his little family – a little family he so dearly loves, and a cozy home he very much enjoys. It’s long-awaited happiness he has justly earned, as Rolfenar is a true man who embodies the honor, loyalty, and fortitude of the Dwarves. He is a provider and a protector, of those he loves, and of the lands he hails from, ready to fight and defend against any threat. And more than anything, he is a dedicated husband, father, and overall family man.
