Personal history
Elizabeth Locke is an outstanding woman born from the city Elarus’ womb of pride and scientific sophistication. She personifies an entropy come about by techmaturgy, smashing the ideals of order and aligned power that everyday alchemists and techmaturges abide by.
A prolific inventor, Elizabeth spent much of her youth skipping lectures at Elarus’ most prestigious institution and instead logging hours inside her parents’ tinkering shop in their mansion’s vast basements. She had an unquenchable curiosity for the technology beyond the ethics and guidelines of techmaturgical progress. She became especially interested in the manipulation of Flow, by mechanical means, to create pulses of crippling or lethal energy. Elizabeth Locke always looked up to the great thaumaturges who could employ Flow without the constraint of techmaturgical armaments, they could create bolts of energy to neutralize foes, and she obsessed over this power in a manner akin to a child. Alas, the girl was never born with an affinity to such magics, and would have to settle researching techmaturgical alternatives.
Elizabeth never graduated from the academy, but her engineering prowess was enough to earn her a reputation as a freelance techmaturgical mechanic, servicing and augmenting machines on contract. Her quality of work gave her a cushion to fall on when her parents finally disowned her, fed up with her dishonouring a techmaturge’s code with her unauthorized chaotic research into techmaturgical weaponry. So she now lives alone comfortably, with no one to disturb her work.
At the age of twenty-four, Elizabeth returned to the world armed with her two greatest works: Xerench and Z-Gun. Xerench is a techmaturgical tool that can mechanically adapt to suit Locke’s needs. Z-Gun is a techmaturgical handgun that fires bolts of red energy in the form of condensed Flow. Both tools are run on K-engines, Elizabeth’s own invention, which temporarily converts Flow to a usable energy but, unlike other Flow-intensive techmaturgy, disperses the used Flow back into the world, instead of consuming it or another resource. Regular cleaning is required to keep the mystical mechanisms intact, as lubricants (and occasionally crystals) must be cleaned and swapped to keep everything running smoothly.
The two can combine, the Xerench attaching to fixtures on the Z-Gun, transforming into the long-barreled Highness rifle. The Highness can fire quick bolts of energy much like the Z-Gun, but at longer range. It also can charge to fire a laser of condensed Flow, the strength of which can be altered mechanically, but higher power will naturally put more stress on the system. The resulting beam can strike through multiple armoured humans, up to possibly cracking a wall on high power.
Elizabeth Locke’s life revolves around a boring work day of fixes with the Xerench, and nights of hunting troublemakers for fun with the Z-Gun and Highness. She has made and broken many friendships and relationships in her life, always finding solitude with her inventions and hobbies rather than many people. She has a great knowledge of life and philosophy, but modest to the point that she hates to be called knowledgeable in that field, preferring others to bask in her techmaturgical achievements. She could go on about the tech specifications of her arsenal for hours.
Employment
Elizabeth has been known to work as a contracted techmakanic for various facilities around Elarus, primarily foundries and laboratories where it is easy to steal scrap metal or special crystals.
Accomplishments & Achievements
Her invention of K-engines that dynamically use up flow for power and disperse the excess and discharge flow effectively into the atmosphere could revolutionize techmaturgy. However, the prototypes she made use very expensive materials, and their methods of construction are a trade secret belonging to Elizabeth.
