Personal history
Words carry a tremendous power. Tone of voice can bring protection or ruin, and the manipulators of such powers are not always boisterous bards with their dreadfully brash music. Secrets are divulged and nations are bartered through simple conversation.
Rin Euinhast learned these things growing up in Morenhauer, the only son of a pivotal politician of trade. When Rin was a young adult, a few bad deals and some extortion lead the family towards bankruptcy. Weeks later, his mother fell ill with a wasting disease. Rin delved desperately into the mystic arts and even an old religion, determined to bring salvation to his dying mother. His father could not bare to live without his wealth, and with his wife sure to follow him, he hung himself before her. Rin Euinhast's mother died to grief two nights later.
Enraged at the folly of his family, Rin Euinhast set out to be a better man than his father; to make words his shield and spear, and to never falter to greed. For his mother, he had learned a trade of healing thaumaturgy and sourced his magic from the old religion of Eonism. He keeps the Index at his side, pouring through its endless pages to glean new knowledge, sharpening his skills. Rin Euinhast now strives to use these abilities for good, banishing those that would wrongly harm others or, especially, himself.
