5th (or 6th, or 7th, depending on who you ask) in command of the Icetreader clan of Gnolls, a clan that seeks to reunite the Gnoll clans of the Frigid Wastes to reclaim their territory from perceived invaders in Haven. Sent to explore the north.
Perhaps the first Gnoll ever to do so, Srerth was sent by his clan to explore the "unexplored lands" to the north in an attempt to figure out why invaders are settling in Gnoll territory. While he is away, as far as he knows his clan is attempting to contact the other clans of Gnolls to amass a force to push out the invaders.
The Icetreader clan is the closest thing to a civilized society among the Gnolls (at least they like to think so), and place a large priority on protecting the lands they inhabit. Though they may not agree with the intentions of the other clans, they view them as lost pack members, not enemies. The other clans receive them with mixed results, some willingly join the growing powers, others are paid to join, while others yet refuse entirely. Currently, there are no plans from the Chief to force cooperation from the reluctant clans, though other high ranking Gnolls (especially those not originally Icetreader) disagree and may be planning in secret.
Srerth was trusted by the Chief to explore the north and possibly establish communication with the "Bare Skinned Clans", with the eventual intention of warning them to move away from the Frigid Wastes.
The Icetreaders do not know the gravity of the situation happening to other mortals and see Haven as a voluntary encroachment not a forced relocation.

Personal history
Born to the Icetreader clan, Srerth does not know his specific parents and instead views his clan (and by Icetreader Philosophy, the Gnoll race entirely) as his family. Contrary to what many northern mortals may believe, the Icetreader clan cares for their own, and there is a strong sense of honor and respect among power hierarchies.
However, to call them organized and civilized would not be true, the largest building they have is a moderate sized tent and most if not all petty squabbles are ended through violence. Still, there is a large sense of pack allegiance, Gnolls would often rather die than betray their pack.
Srerth grow up like other Grolls, tending to the pack and assisting on hunts or raids. In his early teens Srerth was walking with a few members of his pack after word spread of strange figures nearby. When they left the campsite and were far enough away from the rest of the group, a group of human trappers killed all other Gnolls there and captured Srerth to take him back to Haven to "get the most pelt outta this one".
