Old, mad genius obsessed with AI making his living as the Master of Ship Recycling for the Court of Scavs in the Graveyard. Obsessed with adding AI into everything but can't resist adding a flaw/quirk that often undermines the original object's purpose.

Alvin is a small, older man who resides among the Court of Scavs as part of the "The Made". He is known as the official Court's Master of Ship Recycling. His offices tend to be near, if not in, the Court itself as he goes about his duties of repairing decades old destroyed ships, recycling parts and systems, and creating usable ships or floating habitats for the Court as a whole. He is known as "Al" to his friends and "Mad Mr. Squibby" to those that simply know his sidework of Scrapping, Squibbing, and Refitting Ships.
Alvin pushed for a mandated AI integrated system into the Allied Terran Systems ships 50-60 years ago when he worked as a head of research and development. All seemed to be going well until the ships randomly started flying themselves into various stars (and 1 black hole). After the 8th ship almost self-destructed but was prevented by manually destroying the ship's engines, the ATS discovered that the AI had grown suicidal tendencies. When approached, Al explained that he wanted to make them lifelike and refused to "undermine the heart of the project". They scrapped the project completely and banned him from further pursuit into AI. He furiously fled to the Krasian Meritocracy.
In the Meritocracy, he pushed for an integration of AI into Assault Rifles combined with HUD displays. The weaponry worked excellently for several years around the time of the War of Colonization. Mid-battle, the Krasian soldier's weaponry suddenly jammed simultaneously. Each of the soldiers attempted to repair their weapons but it only resulted in their HUD displays showing the words "Make Peace, not War". When he was approached to resolve the situation, he apparently stated that the assault rifles forming a firm belief system, though inconvenient, should be seen as a success of the project and he refused to force them to abandon their idealogy. As reported at the time, he said "If you want them to shoot for you, have some damned gumption and convince them that they should!". His team was disbanded and he was detained and transported into the Krasian Colonies, though reportedly escaped by "the aid of an ornery door and an annoyingly optimistic toaster".
He fled to the Court of Scavs soon after his escape and found his decades of experience regarding ships and engineering to be a valuable addition to the Hersperus Nebula "Graveyard".
