Krasian Meritocracy

Only Strength has value. The Strong consume the Weak in their march towards progress. It is the natural progression of all life.
The First Accolade, 2164

The Krasian Meritocracy is one of the 3 Core governments ruling the "GS Southern" 3rd of the Core systems. They originally separated from the "ATS" due to differences in ethical boundaries regarding research. The mindset was that mankind must evolve past Old-Earth morality to find true progress in this Space-Age lush with opportunity. This mindset has driven the core tenants of the Krasian Meritocracy and created the military and scientific powerhouse that it is today.

Citizenship

Krasia restricts Citizenship to those individuals that are deemed worthy. This often involves a grand scientific discovery, a glorious military exploit, or a feat of exploration. This drive has created a strong military of idealists seeking their "glorious moment" to claim the vast rewards brought with Citizenship. Though it is far rarer, they also have been the only Core Government to continuously field exploratory teams into The Depths as teams seek to return with Alien Technology and gain their prestigious rewards. Their scientific teams, and collaborations with teams all over the galaxy, have created a true pioneer of cutting edge technology. The lack of ethical restrictions has led to true marvels, but often at a cost that would be horrifying if examined closely.

Ideals

"Self-Worth is found through Strength, Intellect, and Glory." The ideals of the Krasian culture are to focus on your own Merit and forge your own path to Citizenship by being the best version of you that you can be. This obviously is restricted to versions of you that are ideal for society as a whole. Vices like gambling, intoxication, and other "worthless pursuits" centered in hedonism and obtaining currency for currency's sake are shunned, restricted, or even forbidden on certain worlds within the Krasian Territories. Anything that does not improve you and give you an opportunity to seek progress is detrimental to a Krasian.

Leadership

The Meritocracy is presided over by the Triad, a council of the 3 most powerful Krasian Citizens. Each focuses on specific pursuits for the Krasian Meritocracy while one serves as leader of them all. This appointment is automatic and their time as Accolade is shared between all members of the Triad during their time in power.

Opposition

Opponents of the Meritocracy point out their continued use of slave labor, factory planets, insatiable drive for colonization and expansion, and their lack of welfare services for any "dregs" of society. It has been also widely reported that within Krasian Territory there remains a vast economic disparity between Citizens and non-citizen Krasians unseen in any other Core World system.

Structure

  • Accolade - (Leader of the Triad)
  • Triad
  • Krasian Citizen
  • Resident (Krasian Resident in a "Valued" or "Hopeful" occupation who is deemed to contribute to society)
  • Dreg (Krasian Resident in an unvalued or "worthless" occupation who is deemed to not contribute to society)

Public Agenda

Pursue the Progress of Mankind at all costs

Territories

They occupy most of the the bottom 1/3 of the Core Systems. Their capital, Krasia Prime, is only 2 systems away from their border with the Allied Terran Systems as that was their initial base for their expansion south when they declared their independence.   In 2203, they also took possession of the Krasian Colonies from the Caspian Mining Corporation during a major offensive known as the War of Colonization. It was, and remains, the largest military offensive in the New Era.

Military

The Military branch is officially titled "The Manifest" originally based on the old earth concept of Manifest Destiny. Their unrestricted scientific advances have created an armed forces that are a mix of scientists, traditional soldiers, constructs, genetically modified creations, and it’s been rumored that even a new breed of Human-based cyborg infiltration units. Unlike the traditional armed forces of the Terrans and Versians, the biggest threat in facing the Manifest often lies in never knowing what latest horrors of modern science and technology may be used against you.

Technological Level

Highest in the Galaxy due to their removal of ethical restrictions and boundaries. Their technological marvels astound the Core Worlds, but they often come at a cost that would make a typical sociopath queasy.

Foreign Relations

Their “self-interest above all else” doctrine has formed very strained relations between the other major Core Governments. Their unbridled press into the Rim has formed strained relations between unaffiliated planets. Their government has produced more intruded explorers than any of the others, so whether for good or ill the Krasians have had the most contact with the Depths.
