Inspiring prophet of the god of chaos and upheaval who narrowly escaped a fate worse than death to lead his flock once more.
In a faraway, frozen demesne, reclusive clans of elves roam a vast tundra. They survive on scarcity by a highly ritualistic culture, elven magic, and reverence for gods of wind and flame. The elf known as Alcaimon came from this strange land many years ago, and immersed himself in Drow society. With his ashen skin and white hair, he easily passed himself off as a Drow. Though he was enamoured with urban Underdark life, he could never lose the spirit of freedom that animated the culture of his homeland. Within a decade or two of living in Menzoberranzan, the injustice of the Drow matriarchy began to grate on Alcaimon. He found his true calling when a group of rebels who professed faith to Malyk, a Drow god of fire and destructive magic, destroyed a shrine to Lolth and were arrested and executed for it. Alcaimon dedicated himself to Malyk and began looking for kindred spirits who wanted an alternative to the oppressive regime of Lolth’s priesthood. His eloquence and intensity won him several converts, but when he began hearing the voice of Malyk in his dreams and proselytizing in secret sermons, Malyk’s following boomed. After several years gathering their strength, the Malykites mounted a rebellion, occupying the largest Lolthite temple in Menzoberranzan as well as a significant government building, and setting fire to a swathe of the city.
The rebellion was ultimately crushed and Alcaimon and his inner circle were captured, chained, and sentenced to driderhood. In a last, desperate bid for freedom, he and his co-conspirators managed to overturn their transport wagon and slay their guards. While Sareval and Erekel escaped with their lives, Idrisa and Alcaimon were struck down in the fighting. Fortunately for them, the priestess overseeing their sentence decided to revive them, hoping to bring the talented sorceress Idrisa back into Lolth’s service, and determined that Alcaimon be made an example of as a drider.
The prophet of Malyk was brought to a place of power where the priestess would conduct the ritual, which would put Alcaimon through the torturous process of becoming a Drider and being magically compelled to serve her - the ultimate humiliation for a dissident leader. All seemed lost, but Alcaimon’s captors were unaware of a crucial detail: that he is not a Drow at all, but an Arctic Elf. The ritual failed, conjuring a furious Yochlol. Alcaimon fled amidst the chaos and escaped into the wild Underdark, from which he would eventually surface in Dragonsmoke Archipelago.
