Personal history
His earliest memories were of a tiny, overcrowded orphanage nestled in the heart of Iridianhold. Abandoned as a baby, he never knew the warmth of a family's embrace or the sound of a mother's lullaby. Instead, he found solace in the quiet whispers of the other orphaned children who shared his fate.
Agnes, a kind-hearted Priestess who ran the orphanage, became Lucius's surrogate mother. She was a beacon of light in his otherwise dreary world. Agnes taught him the teachings of Innos. It was during these formative years that Lucius developed an unwavering faith in the god of light.
Despite the meager resources at their disposal, Agnes and the other Preistesses managed to provide the orphans with a basic education. Young Lucius proved to be a quick learner, his hunger for knowledge driving him to excel in his studies. It was also during this time that he discovered his affinity for the divine.
Lucius's devotion to Innos and his determination to escape the life of an orphan led him to become an acolyte in the local temple dedicated to the god of light.
At the age of 21, Lucius was ordained as a full-fledged priest of Innos. He was granted the privilege of wearing the red robes of his order.
However, as Lucius continued to rise through the ranks of the church, he became increasingly troubled by the church's stance on magic. A new law had been passed by the church hierarchy, outlawing the practice of magic by anyone other than priests of Innos. This included wizards, sorcerers, and other magic users who did not fall within the church's sanctioned ranks.
Lucius believed that this edict went against the very teachings of Innos, which was the illumination of all souls to ward off evil. He saw the potential for good in magic, as long as it was harnessed responsibly and for benevolent purposes. He began to speak out against the church's policy, advocating for a more inclusive approach to magic that would allow individuals with magical abilities to be guided and educated rather than persecuted.
Lucius's beliefs did not go unnoticed. During a sermon in front of the grand cathedral of the capital city, he delivered a passionate address, urging the church to reconsider its stance on magic.
Word of his beliefs spread rapidly, and soon, Lucius found himself facing a panel of high-ranking church officials. Despite his unwavering faith in Innos and his sincere belief in his cause, he was declared a heretic by the church and excommunicated.
With his priestly robes stripped away, Lucius was cast out and left to fend for himself. He had lost everything he held dear—his position within the church, his mentors, and his sense of purpose.
As the sun set on the day of his excommunication, Lucius, clad in humble attire, stood at the gates of the grand cathedral, gazing out at the city he had once called home for one last time before being taken into the inescapable Penal Colony of Stan Leighlin.
Education
As of his excommunication and entry into the penal colony, Lucius possesses a comprehensive understanding of religious doctrine, divine magic, and the teachings of Innos. He is well-versed in scripture and has practical experience in conducting religious ceremonies.
