Ganelon had to live through the early part of his life as a soldier due to being forced to enlist by the local lord until he was released from service and enlisted himself to the academy of Paladins of Innos. Becoming a Paladin of Innos was a natural consequence of his unwavering faith, and upon taking his vows, he pledged to become Innos' sword. However, after losing his father to a tragedy and being forced to know a bitter truth from his siblings, he had no choice but to leave.
Upon being forced to leave, he chose to forfeit his salary, spurn his brethren and those whom he once loved, and set off to live a life most would see as one akin to the life of an adventurer, although his goal would come to be far greater than gold or renown.

Personal history
Born as Ganelon Caledor, son of Roland Caledor and Susannah Richter, he had an ordinary childhood for the most part with few close friends. His father, being a priest of Innos, always tried to keep him on a religious path, but Ganelon did not quite felt faithful enough or a real connection with Innos or any other god at the time.
During his childhood he spent many of his days "adventuring" around the outskirts of town with his siblings, pretending to be adventurers taming the wild forests, killing snappers, dragons, and other fantasies of the sort. His younger sister was called Ermina, and his twin brother was called Thaon.
In his late adolescence, he was forced to enlist in the army and had to participate in some skirmishes against bandits and other small battles. When he was released, he returned home and sought his father for spiritual guidance, which led him to enlist to the academy of paladins of Innos.
After years of training, his brother, Thaon was on his way to becoming a fire priest of Innos, and Ganelon finally was promoted to a Paladin of Innos of the chapter of the star. Not long had passed, however, during a rather peaceful day after the law against magic had been passed, he looked for a trivial item in the household of his parents, accompanied by another paladin. There, under the mattress of his sister, he found a tome used to write down arcane magic. A heinous crime in the eyes of the church, his obligation was to report it...But on the door, there stood his father who claimed it was his, not Ermina's. An obvious lie, that Ganelon did not believe, but understood the meaning of.
With a heavy heart, and knowing both of his siblings would be foolish and only worsen all with their pleas, he left with his father to the guardhouse. As soon as they were in front of the guards, however, Roland looked at Ganelon with teary eyes and no words had to be spoken. The fire priest chanted and gestured with his hand as if he was about to cast a spell, and the paladin replied with a thrust of his sword through the heart. The guards were witnesses and besides the obvious inquiries, no further questions were asked.
On the eve of his father's burial, his siblings had just arrived at the town and heard of what happened. After a heated discussion and threats thrown about, Thaon abandoned his role as a fire priest, and rejected any justifications, swearing that he would take revenge if they ever crossed paths again.
He took over the mantle of a wandering paladin, shunned by some for killing his father, abandoned by what was left of his family, he would not rest whilst the darkness continued to encroach the world. The talks of balance that came from the priests of Adanos were naught but lies and excuses to stay idle while evil forces furthered their own goals.
And so, he made an oath; He would spurn those whom he loved, he would relinquish all, and take up the tools of his quest. No obstacle would stand before him. No plea for help would find him wanting. No moon would look upon him resting, lest he would be judged idle. He will give his body, heart, and soul to serve Innos and retrieve what is rightfully his, from otherwise foul and unworthy hands.
