Appearance
Physical Description
He's going to be them in a few minutes anyways.
Body Features
Sure, they may note his white and brown feathers or his warm yellow and brown eyes, things that are easy for them to understand.
They don't see how his bill is like that of a raven's—large and sleek—handsome to Aarakocra, without being ostentatious, like those of an eagle.
They don't see his unclad feet which show an unusual amount of calluses for an Aarakocra, evidence that he's grown accustomed to walking on the ground with the other races.
They don't see how his wings are somewhat small for his race, and how they seem to be thicker and more muscular to make up for that fact.
Of course, Twixt doesn't see this either. He was raised with the Flightless. His birdness and his peculiarities have made him a man apart. Being alone on the Plain of Fear is an easy way to get taken advantage of, or worse.
Apparel & Accessories
Twixt is rarely seen without a hat. His own bowler is something he's had for ages, and would be loathe to part with.
On the Plain of Fear, hats were all the fashion; they always said something about the wearer.
As he grew, he always loved the idea of being able to "switch hats" and be someone new.
Special abilities
He's surprisingly comfortable with walking, for a bird, and carries himself with an air of irreverence, flitting from one thing to another, paying only the slightest of heed to his "betters" or to situations that others would deem... extreme.
Those that spend their time and really study him, however, can see that there always seems to be a lightness around Twixt. In both the visual and the emotional senses. He thrums with radiance when provoked, tapping into the soul of the Vanir residing within his own. His desires to be someone else become manifest as he sheds his own personality and drapes the mannerisms and appearance of another on top of his own. When either the helpless, "or", those he has come to see as friends, are struck down, his power's there to always give them a hand back onto their feet again.
Mentality
Personal history
Twixt hatched partway through their journey. His cries and shuffling brought the entire caravan to a standstill as it's head came down to check on the commotion. Realizing this was an Aarakocran child, he decided that Refuge was still the best place for it. But as an orphan instead of a good to be sold now. This pause in their journey may have given the Guardian enough time to catch their scent, or maybe just crossed their paths later. Either way, the result was the same.
Twixt was the lone survivor of the attack once again. This time, his life was fading out though, and only with the suffusion of Eivand's life energy into his own was he able to survive until another caravan coming from Refuge found him and whisked him to Llivia.
That's when the greatest tragedy of Twixt occurred. He had graduated from pickpocketing, and the gang wanted to see how he'd fare in a mugging. So, with a couple others, he stopped a man in the street, some type of banker by the dress, someone who'd definitely have some money on him, and wouldn't put up a fight.
Twixt was nervous, though, and something deep inside him was screaming out "THIS IS WRONG" and flinched when the banker reached inside his coat – for his wallet. As the bolt quivered in the man's chest, the rest of the gang scattered. Twixt felt himself crack and stumbled into the darkness of the town. When a lawman finally found him, he was shivering in the crawlspace of an attic, muttering about the twang of the bowstring.
The next year saw Twixt and Twain riding the Plains and stopping criminals. When the magic-maddened wizard, Legato of the Blue Flame, sought to burn down Vagrin for some perceived slight, they were the first on the scene. The ensuing battle ended when, and a crazed final resort to try and eliminate the two (and as much of the town as possible), Legato dropped a fireball on himself.
The ensuing blast killed the wizard, burned Twixt's wings, and knocked out Twain, but it also collapsed a nearby home. Twixt rushed into the whipping blaze to find a small girl hiding inside. Thowing her over his shoulder, he ran back out through the flames. Laying her out on the open street, even to Twixt's untrained eye, her wounds were mortal. With an anguished cry, he WILLED her to get better. He couldn't have her blood on his hands too.
Light erupted from Twixt's hands as he tapped into Eivand's power, healing the girl, and she was made whole again, by his will. Unbeknownst to him to this day, this was the daughter of the banker.
Twain's injuries were severe enough for him to want to comfortably (semi) retire. Twixt's mentor rode off for the main city of refuge, telling Twixt that if he should ever need his help again, to come calling.
Twixt, alone again, but with a greater sense of power and responsiblity, decided to see what's further in the world and make his talents available to those who might need them.
Education
Though capable of reading, he finds it to be a chore at the best of times and actually dangerous at the worst. The world has supported these deductions so far.
However, he's found a knack for people and mimicry. Skilled at impersonation others, this even extends to his ability to forge documents. This had been quite useful for some quick cons when he was in a gang.
Employment
Twixt has been: a street urchin, a conman, a bandit, and a deputy.
He's now a councilmember (of questionable ability).
Mental Trauma
Twixt has never fully recovered from killing that innocent man. He refuses to handle bows of any type now, and even guns tend to be shunned. He has a near compulsion to be seen as a good person.
Morality & Philosophy
He has no use for nobility, as they've only talked down to and spurned him in the past. He sees how they suckle from the common people, and doesn't want to fall into the same trap. His connection with material possessions is fleeting, but he can't help but take things that catch his fancy.
Of course, that would be stealing, and he doesn't do that anymore. So, he "trades".
His view on gods is similar. The world may have been saved by them, yes, but that could also be their self preservation. They appear useless to most people at best, and, these days they refuse to intercede where the common people are involved.
As Twixt sees it, big evil walks the world, and it would be much simpler if the gods stepped down to help. Instead, it's up to mortals to do what the gods refuse to handle, and feels that they should be thanking us, really.

Personality
Savvies & Ineptitudes
Twixt is both excellent with his hands, and understanding people, making him an excellent forger, pickpocket, and disguise-master.
Since he has very little education, many would call him... dumb, but, he's learned growing up on the streets, and as such, his instincts are pretty well honed, and can think well on his feet.
