Lyssa is the youngest child of the noble Ivanost family. She has three older brothers and four older sisters. She fled from her family estate in Northbridge at the age of 14 to avoid being married as part of a family financial alliance sanctioned by the Church of Vith.
 
Her wanderings took her into Darkwood Forest where she was found by the Darkwood Rangers. Athelwold, an aged Darkwood ranger and former weapons master for the order became her trainer. She showed exceptional talent for survival/forest craft and quickly rose up the ranks as a scout and then later a leader.
 
 
Lyssa knows the terrain within the forest and is familiar with the many secret paths that lead to ranger outposts in the great wood. She is good friends with Athelwold’s daughter Til and is very protective of her.
