Rukiya was a premature baby and has always been short, lithe, and dexterous, but lacking in physical stature or strength.

She's smart, wise, charismatic, and compassionate. She's the only character in the game who has better stats than the rest of the party.

Personal history

Rukiya was born Badru Moonstream, Crown Prince of Vyon. She was believed to be The Moonborn, a prophesied hero of Vyon, and her parents raised her to be the best monarch she could be. She came out as a daughter of Vydea as a teen and her mother renamed her Rukiya, Shetai for "she rises up." However, she continued living publicly as Badru, unwilling to expose her true identity for personal, unknown reasons.


She experienced a great love with Rinan at a young age, but when he felt the need to atone for supposed sins, he swore himself into her father's service. His death destroyed her and was a large reason why she felt uncomfortable taking the crown.


As her official coronation as Crown Princess of Vyon approached, she decided she didn't want the crown. She and her family made plans to transfer her birthright to her brother, Kamari, but the only way the transfer would be smooth would be if Badru died. They faked Badru's death and she left, never to see her family again. She transitioned magically and began living fully as Rukiya, a wholly separate life.


Feeling the need to help the people of Vyon, even if she wasn't royalty, she joined Whispers who eventually sent her to the Riverrun branch where she was paired with Ryleigh. They became friends, both of them having a past neither wanted to talk about.


Rukiya was sent to investigate the incident in Bellbury using the alias "Safika." She was introduced briefly to the group that would become Dawnguard, then became more familiar with them as Ryleigh Alastair became part of their group.


In Ropamont 3Y20, Rukiya was invited as a guest of Dawnguard to go to Vydenia and be recognized by the King and Queen. While there, she was able to reconnect with her parents for a short time and introduce Ryleigh to them as her 'everything'.
 

Background Information

In Session0111, Rukiya opened up more than she ever had to Ryleigh, talking about her life in the castle. She talked about how Misha would stay in the room they were in, how they would get in trouble and Ari, her nickname for Kamari, was a tattle. She told Ryleigh about her most embarrassing moment, too- a time when Kamari had revealed too much about her and Rinan's relationship to too many people.

Rukiya has been sexually active since fifteen. Before pursuing a romantic relationship with Ryleigh, she engaged in casual sexual encounters with many people she would meet in the taverns and inns of Riverrun, but never allowed those encounters to become relationships to protect her secret.

She told her mother and father she was a Child of Vydea at 16, a Daughter of Vydea at 17. Her mother gave her the name Rukiya, but she continued to live publicly as Badru until she faked her death just before turning 18.
