Brother to the former King Arveleg I, once uncle to the ruling King Arvegil I, Araphor ruled Cardolan with piety and stone. Witnessing his father Argeleb I die before him in the hinterlands of Rhudaur soured the young Prince to the hillmen and only drove him further towards the pantheon of the Valar. On Arveleg I ascension he took the seat as Ruling Prince of Tharbad upon his fathers command, often considering his Grandfathers proposal of secession and wondering what might have been had Cardolan been granted her independence. To that end Araphor has focused on expanding Cardolani economic, military, and cultural independence from Arthedain much to the Kings chagrin. This has been exacerbated further by the religious divide between the Northern and Southern Vice-Kingdoms with the people of Cardolan often refraining from travel, buisness, and aid to those of less righteousness. This has lead to a great deal of isolationism in the chief city of Tharbad and an effort to rebuild the city of Tyrn Gorthad upon the Barrow Downs. Araphor has been convinced to aid his brother in his war against Angmar with the support of the Fellowship and the valor they displayed defending the Barrows, Restoring the Wards, and encoutering an emmisary of the valar so holy as Tom.
Following the costly Siege of Carn Dûm and the Slaughter on the Angirith Shelf Ruling Prince Araphor made the decision that the time had come to ascend to the throne himself no matter the cost. To do this he encouraged his brother and bore bellicose nephews to cleanse further and further north, until one such cleansing Araphor struck, launching the weight of his armies and mercenaries at the emptied lands of Arthedain. Though marching straight for Annúminas, hoping to take the unwalled city first, thinking it easier prey than Fornost-Erain, Araphor was held at bay by the numerous dotted watch towers of the Beraitirion, situated at the primary approaches to the city. The towers and the palace
were garrisoned by the Beraid Tirrim, a professional military force of the city; quite similar in organization to the Citadel Guard (Rembar Tirrim) in Fornost who held back the rebels until the returning armies of King Arveleg I drove them back across the Kings Road to Tyrn Gorthad wherein the rebels made their last stand. Here in 1415 T.A. King Araphor, along with the majority of the Ruling Nobility of Cardolan were either slain or executed for treason, being replaced by loyal Lords of Arthedain.
