Nona is a young wood elf, only 99 years old. She comes from a long line of druids (her last name, Lavan, means animal) so turning into beasts is perfectly normal to her.
She grew up with her parents in the wilds, near the forest of Lhingris in the Old World.
Her parents had a special relationship to a pack of wolfs nearby, and from an early age the wolves were babysitting Nona.
As she grew older she often stayed with the wolves for long periods of time, when her parents were asked to help people in different towns.
The wolves kept close watch on the goblins in the area, and Nona often went with them to spy on the goblin activities. Many long hours of watching and listening to the goblins destroying the woods and killing innocent animals has not only fueled her strong dislike for them, but also made her understand their language.
Nona loves the nature and wilderness, and she “reads” her surroundings like other people reads books. She can’t remember ever being lost, and has helped quite a few lost wanderers to find their way - both in the wilds of her home and in other places.
After saving Hammerhand Moonstar (the poor man didn’t even know how to kill a spider so she is still kind of surprised that she bothered helping him) she decided it was time for a change. She never told anyone, but instead of riding the war steed that Hammerhand gave her for Bellaris, she turned into one and ran together with the horse just for the joy of speed. It was only when other people were around that she took her wood elf form and mounted the horse instead.
The travel was an ordeal, mostly because Nona really doesn’t like cities - there are way too much noise and too many people. And people are so complicated… Not like wolves, or other animals, who adapt to the seasons and let nature have its course in deciding who lives and who dies.
