Korame Zo's journey to the USS Truman.
Korame Zo grew up on a Starfleet space station deep under her parents' shadows. Her father works in Hydroponics and her mother works in exobiology. Both have done incredible research and development to their respected fields of study, but her mother, Korahar Zo, is exceptionally well known among those that study exobiology to the point that Karame didn't even get a break from her mother's shadow during Starfleet Academy.
During her childhood, growing up on a Space Station ???, Korame was able to mostly get her own run of the station. She definitely got away with more than she should have, due to being sneaky, and disciplined lighter, due to being one of very few children among understanding adults, and perhaps due to her innocent nature.
While at Starfleet Academy, she was an average student. Subjects that bored her or seemed unimportant to her fields of study, she took lightly and would pass with average grades. Those that she excelled at were deemed too remedial for her time and she passed those with average grades as well. Her professors saw her as either uncaring or undisciplined and not worthy of a high recommendation. Unfortunately, she realized this too late.
After the academy, she applied to a few prestigious starships, expecting to get one of them. Not the Enterprise, of course, although she did send that one out as well, but surely one of her top 3 choices would someday lead her there.
She was passed over for those "more dedicated" and failed to realize why until it was too late to get any assignment other than the starbase she grew up on. Professor Conner offered her a research position at the academy, but she had been mocked enough by the new senior class at the academy. Combined with the disdain and pity by various professors, she decided to return home to live in her parents' shadows once more.
tbc--her time at home and overcoming her failure at starfleet academy, and eventually getting on board the Truman.

USS Truman, first away mission (part 1)
I finally went on my first real away team mission! I found it exciting, but also fully terrifying. There was so many unknowns that we had to deal with. I can't even remember the last time I experienced anything new. And of course, I blew it on my firs...
