On the right side of their face is a scar that takes up quite some real estate. They also have one blue eye and one green eye that always seem to look around for more details to look at.

Dark Gift - Second Skin
Transformation
You can cast the alter self spell to appear in your second form. When you do so, you gain the effects of that spell’s Change Appearance option and cannot end it to gain the benefits of a different option. Casting alter self in this way requires no spell slot, and you must finish a long rest before you can cast it this way again. Your spellcasting ability for this spell is Intelligence, Wisdom, or Charisma (your choice when you gain this Dark Gift). If you have spell slots of 2nd level or higher, you can cast this spell with them.
When you cast alter self using this feature, some cosmetic aspect of your second form remains after the spell ends. This visibly marks you unless you actively hide or disguise it. The mark is a perceptible change such as scaly skin, stunted wings, eyes without pupils, or horns. The mark fades after you finish a long rest.
Involuntary Change
Certain circumstances can activate your Dark Gift. After you experience this catalyst, at the start of your next turn you must succeed on a DC 15 Charisma saving throw or use your action to cast alter self as described in the Transformation trait, even if you have already used it.

Personal history
In a valley on the southern edges of the Glimmerwood is a community of changelings. They call themselves the Seekers. They live towards the southern edge of the Glimmerwood, near the mountain that keeps them separated from Silverymoon. This community of changelings keeps to themselves and while they do that they keep their true form, refusing to blend into society.
They shun the other changelings for doing so, to turn their back to who they really are, who they were supposed to be.
The community doesn't need any outside help, they do all their own farming and keep their own cattle. They only mingle with their own people and hide from outsiders. Why would they need outsiders if they could do it better anyways? Outsiders will just shun them for what they are. Riley is from this community and their first memory they can remember is their parents explaining this to them. Of course the explanation was simpler, easier for a child to understand and like any good child, Riley did not raise any questions. This was the way it was supposed to be, why question it?
Riley was a quiet child, they didn’t really have friends either. They liked to observe from the outside rather than play with their peers. This did worry Riley's parents a bit
The more Riley grew up the more they were intrigued by the information they read in the books they shared with Skyler and the world outside their community. Skyler was the one out of the two of them that first decided they wanted to go see for themselves, to see instead of read about it. Riley didn’t really like the idea but after some time Skyler could convince Riley to sneak out and go look.
The first time they didn’t go far. They were only brave enough to sneak into a little part of the forest. The first few steps were the biggest ones, the nerves were high and they were scared to be caught. Eventually they went further and further with every visit outside. One day they even saw the walls of Silverymoon. It took them many more visits to find the courage to change shape and play inside of those walls.
Time went by and they grew up, they went from playing on the streets of Silverymoon to looking at the shops and the people going by. They liked to watch everyone pass by, to invent stories about their lives. During those years they developed feelings for each other, they both knew it of each other, they didn’t need to say it. They joked about running away together, having a life they choose instead of letting the community choose for them. They never acted on it though.
Employment
On a stormy night, thunder cracked loudly above the skies of Easting. Rare witnesses from Iriaebor share rumours that the town got raided by sellswords, killling everyone in the town and stealing anything that wasn't nailed to the ground.
Riley had just come from Berdusk, the jewel of the south, when they heard of the strange circumstances regarding the one-night-raid.
On the way there they met Leosin Erlanthar and his monks from Candlekeep and found out that they shared similar interest in the situation at Easting. Together they investigated the now ghost-town, realizing that it had been ransacked completely. Leosin and his monks travelled north on horse to Elturel to report their findings and parted with Riley.
Days later Riley received a letter from a dark blue sparrow which read the following:
Dear Riley,
Rumours in the south travel around quickly, eventually speaking to me in Elturel. When you reach this letter, I will already be on me way to a town named Greenest and we could use your assistance. I still have quite the journey ahead of me before I reach the trade-stop, so you might arrive there before we do. If this is the case, do not worry. The people of Greenest are some of the most welcoming folk around the Sword Coast, I'm sure they'll welcome you with open arms.
May our roads cross each other soon.
Your friend, Leosin.
Mental Trauma
One day while sneaking out, Riley convinced Skyler to take a different path through the forest. Riley didn’t know why they wanted to go that way, they just had a feeling that there would be something new, an adventure. Riley was right in a way.
They found a temple while wandering around. It was old and hidden away. It was clear that it used to have many decorations but time had erased them. With all of the confidence of 20 year olds they began checking it out, eventually they even found a way in. During the next few days they kept coming back to the temple to explore it. Just like when they first entered the forest, the progress began slowly but eventually they were running and laughing through the corridors.
However one day it all went wrong. Skyler was investigating what looked like an old ritual carving on the ground and Riley wanted to scare them for fun. So Riley pushed them. Skyler tumbled forward and scraped their palms, when they tried to push themselves up until the bloody prints on the floor began to glow. A booming voice was suddenly present but neither Skyler nor Riley could understand the words shouted at them.
A light began to envelop Skyler and they began to scream in pain, Riley did the only thing they knew they could do and jumped into the circle while screaming "LEAVE THEM ALONE!".
There was an answer but Riley still couldn't understand the voice as the volume made the temple shake. Riley just repeated the words as they grabbed Skyler and pulled. The light was blinding them and Riley fell on the ground, scraping their face in the process. As they stood up the light hurt as it was shining on the open wound but Riley didn't care. They grabbed Skyler and ran, pulling them out of the circle.
The voice grew louder and louder as Riley dragged Skyler out of the Temple, they were half conscious and barely stumbled along as they made it out. Riley kept dragging and dragging and after what felt like ages they arrived back at the community. Riley was exhausted and fainted on the spot, Skyler had fainted a while back. This is how they were found.
Riley was in a lot of trouble of course. It took two weeks to properly heal, even though the gashes on their face were not big, they refused to close. Leaving scars on the right side of their face, also when Riley found the energy to look in a mirror they noticed that their eyes were now blue and green instead of the normal white they were supposed to be. During this time Riley was confined to their room, however much they asked, they never knew what happened to Skyler apart from the fact that they made it.
It took another two months for Riley to be allowed outside of the house and only then if they left with their parents to do some shopping or the like. Every time they went outside, people were staring at them, whispering behind their hands.
It took Riley another month to convince their parents to go to the book shop to see Skyler. The person they saw there was withdrawn but looked ok. They refused to meet Riley's gaze though. However much they tried to talk to Skyler , Riley didn't get an answer. Eventually Riley just picked up a random book and bought it from Skyler , only to be shocked when Skyler couldn't pick up the book. Skyler’s hands were almost see through as if made from a hard crystal, they were also unusable. Riley looked up in shock only to be greeted by a glare of anger and disgust from Skyler. Riley quickly put the money down for the book, grabbed it and stumbled out without a word being exchanged between them.
From that moment on Riley turned back into her old self, pulling back from everyone around them. They just looked on as people walked by, as those people talked about Riley behind their back. Riley completely detached. Eventually things slowly returned back to “normal”. Riley was allowed back outside again on their own slowly but surely. Life continued but Riley never forgot that one look they got from Skyler, the anger and disgust was too much as Riley kept on being haunted by it.
One year later everything continued, Riley was married to Quinn like it was becoming of their culture, and by marrying them Riley was forced to take the last name Delaney. Riley struggled as
Skyler also got married around the same time Riley got married. Not that Riley was invited, the last time Riley spoke to Skyler was in the book store. Sometimes they saw each other across the street but eye contact was always avoided, mostly by Riley.
One day, when Riley turned 30 they found the book they had hastily bought from Skyler so long ago, it was a book about how different deities would heal a person and how they went about it. That day was the same day when Riley packed up their bags to find out more. They left a simple note saying they were leaving and didn’t plan on getting back.
That was about 10 years ago, Riley is still trying to find a cure for Skyler. To make things right. Soaking up as much information as they can along the way.

Family Ties
Riley's loves their family to death, Though they grew up in a strict household, their family was loving and caring, as long as you fit the mold there was nothing but love coming from their way.
After the accident things were difficult for a time but ever since Riley had married, things started to get better and heal even though Riley constantly felt like they were mascaraing as something that was not them.
Riley knows that they have been disowned since they ran away. They have brought shame on their family, if they were to ever return they will be ignored at best, and they don't want to think what could be the worst case scenario. It hurts to know that even though they were loved by their family once, that love will have soured to disdain by now. They will never stop loving their family.
Social Aptitude
The Seekers believe in arranged marriages, it is one of the ways to make sure the community keeps thriving, to make sure they don't dwindle. They always do their best to make sure the matches are fitting, and even if the match doesn't fit perfectly, most couples find their way to love eventually.
Because Riley was more detached from the other children growing up, it took Riley’s parents a bit longer to find a match. Eventually they did find a match, Quinn Delaney the child of the bakers in the community. Riley knew about this, they knew Quinn too. They did not know each other much but that didn’t matter that much to them, it was just the way it was.
