Averill was born into a peaceful nature loving tribe of wood elves inhabiting the woods outside of Zara, known to the locals, her family, as the Hiexel woods. Averill's tribe lived relatively undisturbed on the island, outside of some trade arrangements made with the mainland they saw little interaction with the outside world. That was until a power vacuum created on the mainland by a war of colossal scale left room for the Zog family to step in and claim ownership of the territory they occupied. This left the elves with one simple choice: Leave, join in a position no better than slavery, or die. Regretfully, whether through naivete or faith in their god and the institutions had protected them up to this point, the majority of the elves chose to die. Orphaned, Averill began to roam the countryside, she had no qualms with survival alone as her upbringing had prepared her well for survival in the elements.
