Personal history
On September 19th of 23 ARL, Locke communed with the Caverns of Silence in the Meridan Underdark near Darkhome. He discovered that they were a sapient (if very alien) collective of consciousnesses, rather than being some innately hostile trap or monster. In exchange for their aid against the yellow formians that were invading the area, he agreed to become an emissary, linked to The Silence and allowing them to see, learn, and understand through him. He would help them "expand their awareness", and he would gain power in turn.
Taboos
Locke utterly abhors the undead. He is all but required to destroy any he encounters (and may actually be required to do so, only being able to avoid doing so immediately by putting it off for a more opportune time). Anyone who treats with the undead for any reason is all but dead to him.
Locke is not particularly vocal about these feelings. He doesn't bother giving warnings or arguing with allies who might go against this taboo. If they choose to interact with undead in any way but violently, that's on them, and is enough for him to break contact.
