The current King of the country of Shirdal, Orion Astrid took the throne from his father Ara Astrid on 1 Cruzo 1578 when Ara's health began to fail. A little over a month later on 16 Frant 1578, King Orion married Queen Lyra Astrid, and two years after that Lyra gave birth to twins on 10 Cruzo 1580.
 
King Orion was happy for a while and Shirdal prospered under him, however unfortunately many things changed after the death of his daughter Andromeda Astrid on 13 Cruzo 1581. King Orion became concerned with the safety of his remaining heir and kept the public away from him and his wife after this. When asked as to when things started to get bad between the commoners and the nobility, many commoners point to this event as the starting point.
 
King Orion is known to rely heavily on his top two advisors, Galen Starfire and Dominic Stern.
