Biggly Bulette Beatdown

by Tatyi Shalkashla

Much consideration was given on how exactly to proceed with the subduing of the bulette that had been hunting the halflings of Underhill. After scouting the prospective grounds, the process decided on was as follows...

1) Set a Snare spell baited with a lamb that had been tied down so that it could not move from outside the spells's range.
2) Upon the bulette breaching and triggering the snare, Tatyi and Helios will attempt to further grapple the creature with makeshift harpoons tethered to boulders in the field.
3) Should the bulette break free from both restraints, Tatyi was to lure the beast into the final trap, a spiked snaptrap to be released by Lizzie.

Throughout the process Rhosynn, Lizzie and our new half-orc friend would pepper the monster with arrows. Tatyi and Helios were only to attack once securing the creature.

To say that the plan went off without a hitch would be doing a disservice to the immense danger we were in. If our cobbled together contraptions were to fail we would likely have died in swift order. Fortunately the worst did not come to pass and our 3rd trap was not needed. When harvesting materials from the bulette Lizzie commented that this was yet another encounter with a creature whose hide was foul and acrid. Thus was it decided that our party would be known as the Foul Hide. A stroke of ill-luck inspiring a most menacing moniker. Alas we put the affair behind us and celebrated through the night with the lively townsfolk before leaving in the morning.

We were all too happy to have an uneventful few days as we'd travelled the final stretch to Gran Magna Cir'cori. Nearly two months since we were sent out. My insecurity in the efficacy of fetch questing was quickly disrupted as two figures clad in black with wide-brim bowlers blocked our carriage just outside the city gates. They spoke to each other about us, which was VERY rude, and after a quick spat of violence Lizzie's vorpal blows sent them packing. Still their conversation was most peculiar. They spoke about the statue we were meant to fetch, and our ignorance of our role in things. Quite a bit to inquire into now that we've arrived.
