Waterlogged

by Marcus Major

When I thought of seeing the deepest reaches of the deep blue sea I did not expect it to come as soon, rapidly, and violently as it just did. The fine ship known as the Diaspora crossing faced some severe failures and the ship spun out of control and we came crashing down. Fortunately a Raxilite came and steered the ship to a water landing, stopping the heaviest of blows. Yet this spinning and feeling the full force of a crash down to a planet unknown was exhilarating. I can't remember much of after that, but I know that everyone in our pod survived but the other two humans suffered a bit in the crash. Yet with salt and blood we crawled out of our pod before it became our tombs.

At this point my head began to clear up if I did feel somewhat lightheaded and I saw the people around me were rather hysterical. The full group, now being rowed by me to a nearby shore, were 2 Humans (Gregor, and Luna), 1 Skittermander (Ramble), and 1 Raxilite (Jars) with his drone. I've found that everyone was hysterical as we rowed over to shore, where two figures were visibly crawling out of the wreckage. Our raft decided to arm ourselves and try to wage old Viking war with the other crash survivors, yet as it proved they were just as desperate as we were. A lot of talking and introductions were passed, alongside with their usual pleasantries, but I didn't truly pay attention. I was struck by the beauty of the world around me.

There was a sky, visible and blue, along with a breeze that was of coarse salt. A gentle sun kissed my hat as it dried off my clothes, which were now covered in sweat and water, and its collar with a hint of my own blood that was now dryed in my forehead. The sand in my feet and shoes felt soft and warm, yet as I dug my hands below the surface it felt cool to the touch. Alarms and fire could be heard but all that I listened to was the rolling waves along with a not too distant waterfall. Then with the last groans of a dying ship the pod sank deep, and I took a picture of that perfect moment. The moment I couldn't go back to who I was before.
