Backstory

by Jothilda Oakenfoot

The Oakenfoot family moved to Hammerfall for a few reasons. A few attacks on the clan caused a loss of numbers and the decision was made in terms of longevity and protection of the clan to move somewhere more protected and secluded.
Some of these hill dwarves still have difficulty after the 2 decades they’ve lived here to acclimate to the different culture. There is resistance to assimilating as well as a fear of losing the culture that had been built for the last several centuries.

Jo’s family is a relatively large one. Her parents Doutronelynn (Lynn F 175) and Durivrok (Dur M 187) she thinks had her by accident. She is the youngest of 5. Dalorgastr (Dal M 75), Sissilera (Sis F 72), Lurhouck (Lu M 64), Gladaerika (Rika F 51), and Jo… almost 30 years between the two youngest.

Jo has had an interesting upbringing. She is the first of the Oakenfoot clan to fully have grown up at Hammerfall with no experience of their life before. She finds it interesting how many of the mountain dwarves are happy to exist entirely underground. She has learned a lot from many different tutors within the clans both mountain and hill alike. She had developed a certain knack for excavating that the mountain dwarves were willing to help hone and assist with her study and understanding of stonework. The hill dwarves were sometimes afraid she spent too much time with them and brought her outside for long days in the farms and with the animals.
Eventually she found herself just going back and forth as she pleased. Her parents were always busy trying to build strong roots and a foundation with the help of the other siblings she was mostly left to her own devices.

It was during a certain excavation that Jo stumbled into an underground temple once used by the druids following the circle of stars traditions. Within were star maps with constellation maps leading to what may be other temples. She found this strange orb that when she touched it flashed brilliantly with those constellations. She didn’t realize until later, but that flash gave her freckles all over her body that mirror the star maps on the walls.
No one else in her family has any freckles.

She someday wishes to travel the world and find additional Star Druid temples to unlock the secrets they may be hiding.
