Session 57 - Dermish Visited!

Outside of Anastas approaching
The town is weak and recovering.
Large man with giant cloak, a pit fiend. It’s Ipt, he’s here to serve us for Mamon’s court.
The summons engulf us in flames taking us to the top of Tiamat’s tower in the city of Avernus first layer of hell.
Dermish is here! He’s been here like 50 years but only aged a few.
The demons are trying to take over this rift that mirrors the rift on the material plane.
Dermish leads us escorted by pit fiends up to the chained city held by Gruumsh (the demon) to visit his friend Vore an arcanaloth. We were in this library of Daniel Copper books before.
We go to Gruumsh to try and get him to let us into the second layer of hell. The court is on the fourth layer.
He wants Franz’ soul but is amiable to making a deal that he would get Franz’ soul the instant he uttered Avelora’s true name. Dermish decides to make him kneel instead.
Combat starts, Grazzt is ‘fair’ in only asking us to fight two Glabrazu guard of his before renegotiating with us. Nalfeshnee also hang in the background. We will probably have to fight them next.
We start doing well against the Glabrazu, Franz ‘accidentally’ hits Grazzt causing him to enter the fray. The tides start turning against us… Hyadr gets dominated we start taking a lot of damage, Ash gets grabbed and stabs a magic dagger paralyzing him causing him to fall a few floors. She follows trying to get the dagger back. Isolde showed up and teleported the 3 of them out of there to the Feywild.
The remaining Glabrazu gives Franz and Jo 2 chests with 200gp each. He also says he knows how to work the portal.
Ash tries to convince Isolde to let her take the dagger. It looks like Grazzt is now mortal.
How did she get here so fast?
Radiant Lochmarch - the first paragon, the dagger Ashe got from Eloi steals powers from paragons and grants them to the weirder
Somehow Franz convinces her to hand over the dagger and gives it back to Ash.
Elias summons Glacia but she is not interested in more responsibility. We realize there are many imps listening and now know about the dagger. We leave Ipt in charge of the portal and upon going through the portal tell Titivillus that if Dispator wants it he can have control of both the 1st and 2nd layers.
Franz mispronounces Titivillus’ name and loses a finger to him. It’s thanks to Dermish that he only took a finger and not his life.
Ashe gives him a rotten finger and he agrees to escourt us through mamon’s layer to the next portal.
We realize all our food and wine is rotten.
Jo gets a vial of water from the river Styx
Elias has an encounter with one of his dad’s previous torturers who lets us know that he has a shard of the sundering and is back with Maryon.
We make it to Mamon. He asks us to pick his tie.
Then says we are character witnesses for him.
He then starts complaining to Elias about not paying for his deal. Panfyr finds a loophole in the contract that Elias can defer payment indefinitely despite not.
We end up making a deal, contract and all, to kill the living flame for him within 2 months (material plane time)
