Tommy/Kevin

Tommy put me under his wing. I didn't have any skills or marketable goods. Tommy suggested that I sell the sword to set myself up in a city. I could never. The loud streets and the attempt to defy nature was an affront to father's teachings.
 
Tommy said that my village was good to him, he earned quite a good deal out of Corsari - I didn't understand this, I never saw this man before the attack. He said that he would train me into a self-sufficient man. Tommy and I shared an interest in nature, although not as fervent as father's love.
 
Tommy's teaching style was more intensive than Father's. We had less time and I needed to understand the basics. He claimed that my knowledge wasn't important, that the names and uses of herbs weren't needed. He taught me how to shoot arrows accurately. He taught me how to collect my arrows without damaging them beyond use.
 
After I learned to shoot, Tommy taught me to use these skills against living targets. I had killed a living creature before. Tommy refused to share rations until I caught my own. The patch of forest was sparse of edible berries, the deer had already pranced through this area and stripped it clean. My choices were either to take my first life or barely survive on what very little I could forage but be alone with no one that care for my survival. I killed a rabbit. Father always said that all life must die eventually, I didn't think I'd be responsible for the death.
 
Tommy shared my resistance to cities, we always found ourselves straying away. He didn't share my reasons, he disagreed with the idea of man ruling man, but nevertheless, we found ourselves in villages and, on rare occasions, towns. Tommy never gave me a consistent reason, but the people he spoke to would always call him a different name: Kevin Brown. At least in our home country. I found this man with two names rather exciting.
