#2: The Missing Caravan

Information is collected by various members of the new group regarding the dangers of the desert where the caravan and its transporters disappeared to. What could have possibly happened?
After investigation of potential threats, there are plenty that live in the desert. From orc marauders, to pack hunting drakes, to large venomous vipers ready to ambush unsuspecting prey.
Upon nightfall the group embarks on their new task out into the Scorched Savanna. They travel for just about a day and a half, making most of their distance at night while resting in the day.
Finally seeing a looted and wrecked caravan, bones belonging to what can only be assumed as the members of the caravan, and dried blood scattered across the ground. There are tracks leading off into the desert, South. With no other clues or ideas as to who this caravan had in its ranks or what they may have been transporting.
