<private> I can't decide whether I'm acting with my head, my heart, or both. Dad always said it was important to act with your head and lead with your heart and try to find a balance between the two, between logic and compassion, reality and idealism. How many times did she tell me about the darkness she had within her? The pain and suffering and the desire to inflict them on others? But then... the stories she'd tell were about being controlled or manipulated or forced to do terrible things and feeling terrible about doing them. The man she left for dead wasn't a good man. He probably deserved to die in the end... but what she said she did... nobody deserves that.
 
Even before I knew about exactly what she meant, I had decided that she was worth keeping. She's a good person. She just needs healthier coping mechanisms to deal with the anger and guilt and pain she's experienced. I don't know if I'm blinded by love or if this is balance, but I told her that as long as she doesn't give in to it, as long as she keeps trying to get better, to be better, I'm with her.
 
So now I have another thing to research. Brimeia's contract, Gunnloda's situation, Seirixori's mother... and the creature that Ryleigh created when she left that man tied to a tree to die.
