Research progress

by Balvarax Ernid

This is a slog. I know, as a final project, this was never going to be easy, but hoooo, this is a lot of information to try to assimilate. Thankfully, the stories of the Dawn are consistent that I need not try to reconcile differing accounts, but, much to my consternation, hooks and points of entry for me to join them to the tales of my People are unfortunately few. All the more significant, then, is this research! Perhaps it will lead to greater attention to the stories of the Tribes that I have aggregated and more wholeness to the story of the World. My Alithan has returned to me an exhaustive screed on the stories I was told, as well as many notes and opinions on their purposes and meanings. They also gave me names and referrals to others of their station within our neighbor Tribes, and their slight difference and nuance has also been fascinating. It is so much to behold and process!

But today! Today was a grand sign! It is said that if, while we are combing the stacks for material and information, the library Cat, whom we have collectively dubbed Inril Untermeowler, finds you and brushes upon you fondly, your endeavors and studies will be blessed! Well, that very cat snuck upon me as I was pouring over a particularly droll tome. He brushed upon my leg quite fondly, it seems. Now, it may have been slightly because of a venison snack I had stashed in my pocket, but that was for my fortitude and not at all intended to influence the fates. Of course, I sacrificed a piece of it to the creature, and he wandered off as he might following a brief opportunity of pets and scritches. I think he particularly enjoyed my claws, when they are employed softly. My studies were certainly invigorated by his presence, though I could not say the same for that book.

Finally, as our brotherhood has grown, we have found need for a meeting space. We are expecting to inspect this space this evening still. T has need for a place to stow the supplies she has accrued, if nothing else. Hopefully it will prove a suitable staging ground.

In any case, my Alithan was planning to go to the Dragonmeet this week past, and I hope to have more new contacts for my story soon after. And then I'll need to start working on a script. I should enlist some help in practice and editing, since this is only a greater fraction of my evaluation than I prefer to consider.

There are also whispers of the Green Gala coming. Should I try to solicit a date? I'm not sure I'll want to go, but maybe I should?
