Battle on the Big Bridge

The battle that ended The Lantern Lit War. It took place in 86BM.

The Roripop Kingdom's army, led by Duke Klondike Talenti, was annihilated, for the terrain, traps, and sheer number of troops gave Shiokosho a huge advantage. Luckily, after this battle, they didn't advance on the kingdom. Is is very possible that it could have been the end of the Roripop Kingdom as we know it if they did.

The Conflict

Prelude

The Lantern Lit War.

Deployment

The pass to get to the bridge was narrow and risky. It cut through the mountains and was the shortest way to Shiokosho from the Roripop Kingdom.

Shiokosho City's army had lived in the mountains and were used to the terrain; The Roripop Kingdom's was not. Shiokosho soldiers had set traps all across the path to the bridge so that the Roripop knights would become paranoid by the time they reached the battlefield. After seeing some of their friends decimated with falling rocks or surprise attacks, many had lost the will to fight. They had lost before the battle even begun.

Battlefield

The two armies officially clashed on the bridge, and they were equally matched in terms of skill level. Hell, one might say the Roripop Kingdom was almost winning. But after a short while of fighting, Shiokosho's army got more aggressive. They closed in on the Kingdom's troops, making sure they could get as many as they could on the bridge. And then, the bridge's supports exploded. Dynamite had been rigged to blow up the bridge from the beginning.

Many died in the explosion or the fall into the canyon. Those who did survive were either given a slow painful death crushed under rocks or were forced to walk around their bloodied, mutilated comrades.

Shiokosho stopped after this attack, for they lost many soldiers in the explosion too. Plus, the bridge was out, and there was no other easy way to the kingdom.

Aftermath

This loss was major for the kingdom, and was the last official battle the kingdom was apart of.
