The fifth planet from the 7499 Caeli star in the Tau Cerberi system. Liluri is known not only for being one of the first planets settled by spacefarers - the Ulmaat settled on Liluri in UGY 4241 - but also for its beautiful and diverse scenery. It is a vibrant place filled with all manner of flora and wildlife.

A vast world and not entirely explored by those who now call Liluri their home. For the most part, the skies and areas above ground have been mapped out by scientists, researchers, even your average traveller, but much of Liluri’s underground and deep, treacherous oceans have yet to be explored.

The Forests of Il’da’an

One of Liluri’s most explored regions. The thick, dense forests of Il’da’an stretch for miles and miles.

Filled with a handful of different tree species, the most common is the vergato. Vergato trees have thick, yellow trunks with creamy or dark brown patches on the exterior. They can grow to 410 metres tall. Branches start growing around a third of the way up the trunk. These branches dip down slightly where they attach to the trunk, then begin to spiral upwards as the branch grows.

Vergato leaves are dark purple in colour and litter the top most branches. The further down a vergato tree you go, the less leaves grow around the branches as they are unable to get as much light. Most leaves on the lower branches are actual there from their initial stage of growth as vergato leaves can remain attached to a tree for a hundred or so years before wilting and falling away.

The second most common tree species is the liv’ea tree. Liv’ea trees don’t grow as large as vergato trees – the tallest liv’ea on record is only 157 metres tall. They grow in extremely dense patches throughout the forest, in areas where the vergato trees are sparser, or areas where the liv’ea trees have actually out grown other flora.

Most plant species grow on the ground in Il’da’an, where the soil is rich with various nutrients and is enough to sustain these plant species even in the absence of non-artificial light. However, this does mean that a lot of these plant species are rather small. For example, the yuinweed barely reaches five inches in height, or the sinnicaar cress, which has a tallest recorded height of one and a half feet.

Sinnicaar Crests and Medicinal Properties

The sinnicaar crest is terrible easy to spot amongst the other plant species in the Forests of Il’da’an. The stem is jet black – darker than the vast and endless void of space, as many have described it – whilst the flower is a vibrant red. Towards the centre of the flower there are small white specks of colour dotted around haphazardly.

When Ulmaatan environmental researchers were studying the native flora, they discovered that covering injuries with the flower of a sinnicaar cress helped to relieve pain, although the effects were relatively minor and short lived. Further research eventually yielded a medicine known as Sinnicaar Drul. Every 100ml of Sinnicaar Drul requires up to 4 sinnicaar cress flowers, depending on the size of the flower picked.

Ever been to the Forests of Il’da’an on Liluri? They’ve got huts up in the canopy. Whole communities of Ulmaat just chilling out in the tree tops, going about their business as if they ain’t got a 300 metre drop below ‘em.

Each plant species varies in colour; from almost neon bright pinks and blues to muted greens and oranges, or to dark reds and golds. Some of them are a single colour, whilst the flowers of others are made up of a combination.

Some plant species actual grow on and around the trees within the forest. One notable species of plant that does this is frostphade – an icy blue plant that curls around the trunks of vergato trees. Frostphades have tiny, barbed thorns that dig into the trunk of a vergato tree and sap out excess nutrients. They start growing near the ground and can reach a quarter of the way up the trunk of a vergato tree if left unchecked.
