Cold Wastes
The Cold Wastes have the harshest living conditions in all Achandia, in these lands’ survival defines daily life. Scarcity of food lethal blizzards and dangerous wildlife are all realities of daily life.
Adventurers will struggle to survive as they hunt for large prey, suffer blizzards, fight rival clans and escape other perils of cold and monsters.
Geography
The region is characterised by tundra, glaciers and seasonal seas which freeze solid in winter and thaw in summer. Icebergs are a constant problem for sailors in the area, but even so it is easier to travel by sea than across the tundra.
Beyond the edge of the map the Whitewall Glacier extends unto the edge of the world nearest Yevosera, constant snowfall feeds the Glacier which breaks apart into the sea each and every summer.
Fauna & Flora
Woolly Rhinos and Mammoths, Mastodons, Dire Wolves, Polar, Grizzly and Dire Bears, Giant Ground Sloths, Camelops (Giant Woolly Camels) and Sabre Tooth Tigers. Aside from these natural animals, there are many magical beasts known for living in the ice and snow werebears.
There is little or no plant life except for lichen, moss and conifer trees.
Natural Resources
Resources are also limited here, while steel can be found in small quantities it is a precious commodity, so weapons and armour which use a lot of steel are rarely found, a sword is a symbol of status and power. In many cases flint is used as a workable replacement, bows, spears and javelins are the most common weapons.
Furs, whale oil and fish are common commodities here that are regularly exported to other parts of the world, because of the scarcity of iron, copper, tin and flint are also valuable for making tools and weapons, but these resource have little value outside the region.
History
The legendary orc explorer Mazoga has had a big influence on the region, he built the first icebreaker ships and with them explored the coasts and islands of the region, he founded the first trade company (The Mazoga Trade Guild) and established a lucrative fur trade monopoly by trading with goblin clans.
In recent years the Goblin Clans have organised and unified under several Khans, this new level of cooperation could spell problems for the nations on the other side of the Bay of Ice who have long treated the goblins as enemies.
