Varian
One of the first two Gods to achieve awareness, Varian considers themselves the greatest among the Gods for this and for his creation of magic, which they would argue was the greatest and most complex of all the creations. Although gods are not all-knowing, Varian comes close as they take a personal interest in trying to know all, for this reason, Varian hates secrets, a principal reason he is a rival of Siliko.
Followers.
While many wizards have no time for the divine, most will save their prayers for Varian. But those who work as scholars, teachers and bookbinders also say prayers to Varian. Most people will pray before conducting research or at the beginning of school, thanks is given to Varian at graduations and they often bless books.
Church.
Most libraries contain a chapel to Varian, most arcane colleges include an on-campus church of some kind. Public education does not exist, but the church of Varian provides free schools in many towns where a church doubles as a schoolhouse, although many of the priests will be scholar-monks but not true clerics. Cities contain temples to Varian, where a library is often usually provided to the public.
Clerics of Varian tend to wear black vestments, whilst scholar-monks will wear white robes with black accents. Many clerics are also trained in some magic, a staff is a preferred weapon it symbolises the connection to wizardry and is favoured in the martial art of the contemplative scholar-monks.
Dogma.
Discipline your thoughts, read every day, fill your mind with knowledge. Practice the arcane arts if you have the gift for it or turn your prayers to Varian that he might bless you with magic, arcane or divine. Speak the truth and do not keep secrets even if they are hurtful or dangerous.
