The United Principalities
The United Principalities are a group of seven principalities under one king, the king is elected rather than born into their rule. Each ruler of the seven principalities in the realm, are the princes of the kingdom and they each get a single vote to decide who will be king for life. These elector-princes are the princes of Dunbirge, Timberland, Azure Spire, Treuegrad, Thurden Bal’, Vurisdale, and The Metoth Marches.
Each principality their own rules for how its prince is appointed, but they all have an equal say in who will be King. The current King is Elderid Olethlian, he was elected only recently and is notably the first King with a significant amount of High Elven ancestry (all former kings have been essentially Human). It is expected that his reign will be long, but it is too early to know what that reign will be like.
The Principalities are united by their devotion to Solar Gods and by a vision of shared prosperity and the common good. They are also surrounded on most sides by hostile and dangerous nations and the last prince to claim independence, Galliflax has since lost that independence to a goblin host.
Demography and Population
The United Principalities are a kingdom of millions spread across a vast territory.
The majority of the population is of largely human ancestry, but there are humanoids with elven and Earth Djin ancestry also. There are also significant minorities of Whitescale Dragonkin and Dwarfkin (Mainly Mountain Dwarves).
Foreign Relations
The United Principalities are functionally at war with the Yellow Horde, although total war has not yet begun, skirmishes along the border are commonplace.
Korg is regarded cautiously, there is a border dispute between the Principality of the Timberland and Korg, they do not agree on the location of the border through the Timberland, there is a risk that a miscalculation could worsen relations.
Galliflax is a former principality, they share a luke-warm relationship due to a shared history and culture but Galliflax left under unhappy circumstances.
The newly elected King is distantly related to the Royal family of Ardunia, they are de-facto allies through blood, but as of yet, neither side has formally recognised this alliance.
