Astarta, The Goddess of War (Ah Start Tah)
Reveler of carnage and battle, Astarta is a nomadic Goddess who's domain is whatever battlefield garners her interest the most in the moment. The adrenaline of combat is what she craves, and is more often than not seen as a chaotic warmonger by lawful entities, and an ever present mercenary by chaotic beings.
The truth is certainly somewhere in-between. Astarta has no creed that pertains to goodness of evilness or law and chaos. She enjoys a brawl as much as the next girl just as much as she adores the organization that is involved with a phalanx. Astarta's creed is to fight. To fight for something important to you, something worth defending or assaulting -- Truly to find your place in the world as a soldier for your own cause. In her eyes, there is no greater death than one earned tooth and claw in the field.
Truly, followers of Astarta are almost always militant in some way, and even those who follow the creed of another god have Astarta's name on their lips when they sally out to battle; hoping the Maiden of War will favor them and ensure their blade swings true. In most cases, long-term followers of Astarta have it as long family traditions, houses where combat is well in-grained in every last member, be it against other civilized humanoids or the very beasts that plague the lands. For this reason, a large number of followers gravitate towards areas of the mainland's most dangerous locations, such as the Dragonfire Peninsula in The Kingdom of Andrial's lands or Tartaran Valley in The Blue Star Empire's lands.
Followers of other gods tend to look upon Astarta devotes with varying degrees of respect or contempt. A Jenzurian Priest may revere or even idolize an Astartan Cleric, while a Livendan Priest may turn their noses up at the same Cleric and proclaim them a warmonger. Interestingly, followers of more chaotic gods, such as Ordnat Zealots tend to be more wary of Astartan devotes than anything, seeing them as a "contemptable Legion" that would threaten chaos - Warriors who's "light" can't be put out when it is the battle that gives them their zeal.
Truly, there are very few beings who fear not death itself, and Astarta's chosen look forward to meeting this reaper on the field, when they are taken from The Fugue Plane to join their Goddess' ranks and called upon to see if the stories about the Reaper's realm are true.
Divine Domains
Being the Goddess of War, Astarta embodies everything about might, honor, and naturally; war. A firm believer of proving one's right with their might, she is very much a proponent of pushing one's body to the their maximum extent, and to fight with everything you have. While this doesn't mean absolutely suicidal unless your cause demands such treatment, she does keep a watchful eye over the line between discretion and outright cowardice, condemning cowards to the holes they cower in.
That being said, as she does approve of Honor, she has little interest in those who would use their strength to bully people who cannot defend themselves. Not only in its most basic sense is it hardly a challenge, but it is dishonorable and pathetic to find those flagrantly weaker than you and using their suffering just to pretend you are truly strong.
Astartan Clerics are primarily War, and Forge. However, on rare occasions, you can see a Twilight domain Cleric. The reason for this is unknown and foreign.
Artifacts
There is in fact, a known artifact of Astarta said to be left within the Material Plane before Common God Law was established. Many Astartan devotes have traveled across Aden to find it, the Legendary Axe known as Labrys.
Holy Books & Codes
"The Art of War" - Said to be written by one of Astarta's most fanatical devotes, detailing each and every technique and strategy of war that could fit in a book. It is said to be the finest appreciation of Combat in existence.
Divine Symbols & Sigils
Astarta's holy symbol is a depiction of her axe from long ago - Labrys, imposed over a large field behind it, with all sorts of strewn about weaponry impaled in the ground and littering the horizon -- A glimpse of what Astarta would proclaim a good place to die.
