Dóans

The dóans1 are a human tribe inhabiting Yrúan Peninsula in southernmost Ytis, in northeastern Adynía. Their territory is bordered by the Vúltans to the northwest and Jórans to the northeast.
Before Góalanis was conquered by oricsh tribes, the dóans were among the ytean tribes which the Góalanics had most contact with, and their cultures still shows heavy góalanic influence to this day. During the conquests, they sent ships to aid their allies in the city of Ökí (modern Hökía) in western Góalanis, but some of the ships were scattered during a storm along the way2, and while the warriors who made it to Hökía fought bravely, it only slowed down the eventual fall of the city.
Since then, the dóans have sporadically raided ships owned by Góalanic Orcs to avenge their old allies and fallen warriors, while sparing and even defending other ships sailing though Black Strait3. This practice has put them at odds with the neighbouring vúltans, who are far more engaged in piracy and less picky on which ships to attack.

Notable deities

Fænis
The dóan version of Fanasis, the divine bull in góalanic mythology. Like the latter he's associated with fertility as well as the afterlife, but is usually depicted as a deer rather than bull, with a fish tail instead of hind legs.
Tænil
Another deity borrowed from the góalanics, specifically the sea goddess Tarnil, whom the dóans often depict as a mermaid.

1Original icelandic: Dóar, singular: Dói
2A few of the ships that lost course during the storm ended up in northeastern Gysikan, whose crew settled down there and became ancestors of the Þúans.
3The area between eastern Góalanis and southern Ytis, which marks the edge of Central Sea to the west and Silver Sea to the east.
