Yteans

Ytean is a general term for the predominantly human tribes that inhabit eastern Ytis in northeastern Adynía, a region which they share with the Ytean Orcs to the west. They are primarily descended from two major waves of prehistoric humans who were the first to settle in Ytis, one travelling along the northeastern coast of Central Sea and a later one coming from the Wild Mountains to the north, and were gradually pushed eastwards as Orcs from Úrún expanded their territory into the region as well. Currently, the river Jál forms the boundaries between the two peoples.
The distinction between the two groups is not always clear, as the tribes living in central Ytis are often include people belonging to either faction or of mixed ancestry, and whether these tribes emphasize their human or orcish identity tends to shift depending on their relationship with surrounding groups.
Certain coastal yteans also have góalanic blood in them due to longstanding contact with the latter prior to -and to lesser extent after- the orcish conquest of Góalanis as well. In some ways, góalanic culture has survived better among them than the natives.
Yteans have few major settlements, with the only ones of note being Úþras by the river Jál and Ætó by Vúrin river.
