Jórans
The jórans1 are a human tribe inhabiting the west bank of the lower Vúrin River in southern Ytis, northeastern Adynía. Their territory borders those of the Dóans to the southwest, Vúltans to the west, Vaþrókans to the north and Jaltans to the west, and the Silver Sea to the south.
Their main settlement is the town of Ætó by the mouth of the river, originally a trading outpost to accommodate merchants from Góalanis across the sea to the west.
Jórans are something of an anomaly among other Yteans in many ways, such as their language being an isolate featuring a verb-subject-object arrangement and ten grammatical cases, and jóran warriors make greater use of combat magic than their neighbours, only using daggers as a last resort when magic staves and arcane martial arts fail.

Language
Jóric is the only ytean language to have extensive literature, using a modified góalanic alphabet known as njarkal /ɲaːrkhaːl/ to write birch-bark manuscripts.Religion
Jórans worship a pantheon of deities which have little in common with those of their neighbours, chief of which is Larló, god of magic. Cremation is the norm, and warriors are believed to reincarnate as ravens.1Original icelandic: Jórar, singular: Jóri.
