Marifon
Marifon is capital of the Kingdom of Refon, and the only large settlement on the island of Refon. Starting out as a large cave connecting to the sea, the native Refonians carved much of the city out of the living rock until they reached the surface. The cave entrance has since been widened to allow access to ships, and the underground harbor city's lowest level is widely considered a world wonder.
Here, ships from as far as the Sikíron Empire and the Kingdom of Faron lay moored, safe from the elements while the crew goes about its business.

Demographics
Visitors are restricted to the two lowest levels around the harbour. Most citizens live in various districts on the levels above, with the aristocracy residing just below the surface or in a palace above ground.
Industry & Trade
Marifon mostly exports fine woolen cloth, metals, precious and semiprecious stones, and imports goods such as timber, olive oil, grain and pottery.
Infrastructure
The underground harbour forms a rough semicircle, with a large bronze statue of a she-bear with her cub opposite the cave entrance. Surrounding the harbour are storehouses, while on the second floor are numerous taverns serving mutton, fish and fermented sheep milk or imported millet beer to visitors.
The entrance to the upper levels are guarded to keep travelers out, up there are most of the residences and workshops.
