Kingdom of Faron

The kingdom of Faron encompasses much of the eponymous land of Faron and, through two vassal states, the Zóken Mountains, south of Gysikan. It forms an important part of the trade-route connecting Marissía across the sea to the west to eastern Adynía in general, including Gysikan and the island of Refon. The inhabitants are mostly half-elves and humans, with a notable dwarven and half-dwarven population to the north.
The kingdom is known for its wine, jewelry and fine, blue pottery, and faronic culture has always been influential in eastern Adynía.

History

Faron is one of the oldest civilization of Adynía, though for much their history the faronians were divided into several different kingdoms until being unified by the Baþris dynasty, predecessor of the current Þarkis dynasty.

Structure

Government

The Kingdom of Faron is ruled by the Þarkis dynasty from the capital of Heknalis, the current monarch being Nehes V. Two noble families are in charge of each of their vassal state in the Zóken Mountains, but their power is limited to these city-states.

Provinces

Faron is divided into six provinces and two vassal states, the latter being Dalindren and Fazeron in the Zóken Mountains.
Harúnnen
Covers the southwestern part of Faron, beyond the river Únnen and extends to the southernmost part of Darden. Most of the faronian inhabitants live in Iþría at the river's delta, the province's only major settlement, while the hinterland is inhabited by three dardian tribes, Agbarol, Zellol and Þúffalol.
Jelharis
Covers the eastern part of Faron, including much of the Tó Plain and the eastern coast, bordering Gysikan to the north. It's the kingdom's most rural province, lacking any town or cities, instead the people live in scattered villages, subsiding on raising cattle and horses, fishing and making cheese.
Keftíos
Covers the area between the river Gyþen and the Tó Plain in northern Faron, bordering the Zóken Mountains to the northwest and Gysikan to the northeast. Its capital is Molpadis at the banks of Gyþen to the northwest, where a significant minority of dalindreans lives, the largest community outside the mountains.
Knalos
Covers the central and southern region between the river Únnen and the Tó Plain. The name is a reference to the knalótans who ruled the area long ago. Its main settlements are Jólta, Marpa and Ókolis.
Nalþos
The kingdom's heartland, between the rivers and Gyþen and Únnen, south of the Zóken Mountains. The capital of Heknalis is located to the east along Gyþen, while the two other major cities of Visía and Tavos are found along Únnen to the west.
Perinþa
The most recent province of Faron, which covers the eponymous island off the southeastern coast of Faron as well as the smaller island of Vamma. Once a thriving faronian colony (and, for a short while, kingdom), for reasons unknown the island suddenly rose from the sea and has been hovering in the air ever since. It wasn't until millennia later that the faronians -with the help of dalindreans and fazeronians- managed to construct a bridge, connecting Perinþa to Vamma.
Since the island was looted of any valuables years ago, the province has mostly been of interest to scholars visiting the ruins, as it's unsuitable for agriculture af any kind.
