Personal history
It was here at the order that he met and befriended Jakub Krygiek, an abandoned take-in for the order. These two boys would become fast friends in their education behind the walls of Erod-a-Raihan where they learned the order's Yarmeza, common Hasdinian, and taught each other their own native languages. Life at Erod-a-Raihan was rough, beatings were common and verbal abuse was a fact of life. Instructors at the fortress were among the most deadly, knowledgeable, and skilled men and women in the world, and this fact was made evident via the quality of training Krygiek and Doev received during their time there. Doev excelled in the physicality required for their work, Doev was a renowned swordsman, marksman, hunter, tracker, and specialized in breaking complicated spells and curses. Krygie' managed to get them work and contracts while Doev swung the swords, took down the beasts, broke the curses, and lugged back the evidence for them to be paid. Their success made the traveling witchmen duo widely known in the lands west of the Oltune as Lords, and Ladies sought their aid in dealing with the supernatural pests that more and more plagued their lands.
Not known for his talkativeness, Doev isn't as dumb as he might appear to be at first glance, as a fervent enjoyer of music, ballads, and poems he is the one who enjoys the taverns, mead halls, and great halls the two frequently attend. Doev apparently has quite the singing voice and in a rare story he loves to tell only after downing a few drinks and becoming talkative, he once managed to make Krygie' burst into tears after singing to him. Keeping a collection of ramblings and sayings in a book he keeps on his horse, Rus always seems to be able to say the right thing at the right time. Like most people, Elbrus Doev is not as simplistic as he might appear and none know of this better than his best friend and partner. The bond between the two men is alike brothers, they know almost everything about each other and will likely carry the memories and knowledge to the grave, hopefully together.
To the surprise of many, Doev was once engaged to a woman. Her name was Elana Curive, a Sokoly noblewoman Doev met while pursuing a contract in the area. This was during his first initial years as a Vyedymi and she nearly made him give up his line of work. Ask Elbrus and the already quiet man quietens further, speaking in a soft and barely audible voice about a love lost, not from a dying flame but from circumstance. Elana's status meant she could never be with him, her blood was too noble for a downtrodden and mud-clad man like him and soon, she was betrothed to another man despite her protests. Doev speaks of himself in this time like another person, he resents his actions and what he said to Elana when she told him the news. Talking about the night makes Doev fidget, he rubs the scars on his knuckles and on his forearms and his head hangs low. Elbrus beat the man, Elana's betrothed, to an inch of his life and he says Elana's eyes changed that night, she looked at him like he was a monster and he believed her. Love hurt Elbrus in a way nothing he thought ever could, beneath all the skill, the training, the weapons, and the armor, Doev betrayed someone he loved and let the worst part of him slink out for just a moment. Deep in Doev's heart, he does not believe that the wound of love will ever leave him.
These days, life had just started becoming monotonous, Rus' and Krygie' had made their way south to Lakia on the trail of a particular beast when they stumbled upon a ragtag bunch of misfits led by an orphan boy, a fiery huntress, a lovestruck pirate, a sad Northman, and a big, bloody giantess. The Vyedymi pair could have mistaken this pair for a circus and made their way past them, but who knows why they stopped and chatted, maybe it was fate or destiny because from that day the duo would be invested in the noblest quest imaginable, saving the world.

History
Meeting on the long road to Erod-a-Raihan, the Witchmen pair of Elbrus Doev and Jakub Krygiek are as unlikely a pairing as any could find. Doev, the softspoken, stoic, and senior of the two while Krygiek is notoriously loud-mouthed, jovial, and more a salesman than a fighter. Nevertheless, the two gravitated towards one another during their training years inside the walls of the Vyedymi fortress and both slowly broke down the walls they had put up on their way. Slowly Doev and Krygiek each learned Hasdinian, an order policy, and each taught the other their mother languages. After being deemed able to complete work in the field, both men received their gear and set out to work, accompanying each other of course. Witchmen pairs are rare, when they set off they immediately come into several contracts that required their pairing and saw them barely survive the encounters. Anyone who comes into contact with the pair can attest to their roles, Krygiek is the showman, the salesman who talks them up to contractors while Doev stoically sits and waits for the meeting to end. In the field, Doev is as skilled and strong as they come and does the heavy lifting while Krygeik brews the potions, shoots arrows, handles the harmless creatures, and collects the rewards. This system works well and hasn't resulted in any hiccups for the pair.

History
Starting off on a rocky footing when Marius attempts to steal from the Vyedymi pair, Elbrus Doev took an immediate liking to the boy from Rasca. Marius' attempts as avoiding responsibility for the task he's been given are confronted by the way Elbrus forces him to realize the importance of what they're doing. Marius resent the rigid discipline and questions Elbrus forces on him while Elbrus often finds himself losing his facade of stoic indifference as Marius has a way of needling the stone-faced witch hunter like none he's ever met before. Behind it all, the two have a desire to see each other be who the other wants them to be and while they're both too stubborn to admit it, have each found something they knew they were missing in the other.
