Personal history
This routine changes suddenly when Marius falls through a hole in the floor of the temple and finds himself in a grand underground passageway. Following a dark tunnel for ages before coming to the other side of a busted wall, Marius finds a great room filled with gold coins, artifacts of what seem to be war spoils brought from distant lands and a mechanism quietly humming at the center. Curiosity takes over and when Marius touches the device, a booming voice announces something in a language he cannot understand as an oily black stone smoother than anything Marius has ever seen comes out of the mechanism. Taking the artifact and putting it into his pocket, the entire chamber begins shaking and Marius realizes that it is time to leave and leave fast. As he climbs through the break in the wall, Marius turns and sees a gigantic eye glaring back at him before something enormous emerges from the rubble breaking through the ceiling. The next few hours are almost a blur, running and shouting and more running and screaming as Marius flees Rasca and climbs to a nearby hilltop at the outskirts of the city. He then turns to see the giant man has now fully risen from whatever sleep it was in and now overlooks the ruins of the city. The giant is terrifying, burning hot with a fiery beard and hair and with a golden diadem, unlike anything Marius has seen. In one motion, the giant slams a staff he rose with and the entire town goes up in flames and then silence, no screams and no shouting as the entirety of Rasca is incinerated in an instant.
Now it seems Marius has no choice, after a day or two of realizing the gravity of what's just happened he decides to journey east, to a place he's heard about, a place named Komneia where he heard was a safe haven for runaways like himself. Marius thinks he'll stop in the city and figure out what to do next and so on the roads he goes, roads paved in stones Marius formerly thought were the smoothest he'd ever see. Upon reaching a village on the shore, Marius is caught up in an argument between what seems like a joking Pellephoni merchant and a huntress who stops their argument to address Marius. The huntress introduces herself as Leuctra and says she'll be with him in a minute. Little does Marius know, these people will be the introduction to an entirely new world Marius has entered and his guardians on a journey that will test every ounce of strength, skill, and stamina that the orphan of Rasca has.

History
Marius and Leuctra could not be more different, Marius' lack of motivation and urgency is something made up for by Leuctra's attention to the task they find themselves on. She resent the effect Zephyr has on Marius and how she seemingly can't get through to him how serious their mission is when it has been explained to her. Marius has a history of parental troubles and initially sees Leuctra as just another guardian he'll have and then be dropped by, preventing him from putting in the effort.
History
Starting off on a rocky footing when Marius attempts to steal from the Vyedymi pair, Elbrus Doev took an immediate liking to the boy from Rasca. Marius' attempts as avoiding responsibility for the task he's been given are confronted by the way Elbrus forces him to realize the importance of what they're doing. Marius resent the rigid discipline and questions Elbrus forces on him while Elbrus often finds himself losing his facade of stoic indifference as Marius has a way of needling the stone-faced witch hunter like none he's ever met before. Behind it all, the two have a desire to see each other be who the other wants them to be and while they're both too stubborn to admit it, have each found something they knew they were missing in the other.

History
On the surface, Marius and Kara are both still children, Marius has a gleeful and sly demeanor that Kara finds beyond interesting and a source of endless enjoyment. However, on the inside, each's past prevents them from expressing themselves to one another in the truest ways. For Marius, he's simply fearful of Kara, she reminds him a bit too much of the figure that emerged from the depths of the world and destroyed the only home he had. Marius is ashamed of the way he secretly feels about the giantess but no matter how much he tries to shake it, when he looks at her he has a hard time looking past it. Kara on the other hand has Marius as an escape, a new friend who saves her from the dreary and guilty Hjalmar, and someone who she feels she can relax around. Kara has suspicions about the fear Marius has towards her but the two have enough fun together that she tells herself she is imagining things.
