Tamre

The Sun-Kissed Kingdom

(language convention: Spanish)
Ah, Tamre, land of rolling hills and hearty folk. They say it's a place where tradition runs deep, and the past whispers on the wind.

Geography

Tamre is a large pastoral kingdom bathed in warm sunshine. It borders the New Aerith Sea with sandy beaches and dramatic cliffs.
The interior boasts rolling golden plains, dotted with olive groves, vineyards, and charming villages.
The western border is a rugged mountain range called the Mountains of the Sun, a natural defense and source of precious metals.

Culture

Fervent and Passionate: Tamreans are a people full of life, known for their deep emotions, love of music and dance, and unwavering loyalty. Their culture is a vibrant tapestry woven with traditions inspired by dueling with magical beasts for sort, dancing, and elaborate religious festivals.
Sun and Faith: Tamre's name for the Creator is Sol, the Sun God. His golden rays are seen as a source of life, warmth, and prosperity. Religious ceremonies often take place outdoors, with grand structures built to harness the power of the sun.
Stoic Nobility: The nobility of Tamre are proud and hold themselves to a high standard. They are skilled warriors, often mounted on magnificent, fire-blooded horses. Tournaments and displays of courage are popular pastimes among the upper class.
Merchants Kings: Tamre's capitol, Espoir, is a hub of trade, with skilled shipbuilders and daring captains venturing out to explore the world by sea, river, and overland. They are known for their fine olive oil, strong wines, and exquisite textiles.
They whisper that Tamre wasn't just one of the nations to rebuild after the Sundering, but the very first. Legends speak of a hidden valley, untouched by the cataclysm, where a hardy people persevered. Then, when the dust settled, they emerged from their haven and led the way in rebuilding a shattered world. Truth or tall tale? Who knows, but Tamre certainly has a head start on most nations when it comes to history.

Society

Tamrean society is hierarchical, with a strong emphasis on family and honor. Large, extended families live together in sprawling haciendas, managing vast agricultural estates.
Skilled artisans and craftsmen are highly respected, renowned for their intricate metalwork, vibrant ceramics, and beautiful flamenco dresses.
Bards and musicians are integral to Tamrean culture, their songs and stories keeping traditions alive and spirits high.

Geopolitical Landscape

Tamre has a long history of conflict with its northern neighbor, the Emberhold Confederacy, a colder, more militaristic nation. This rivalry fuels a strong sense of national pride and a constant need for a strong military.
Across the southern border is the pirate nation of C’Sain with whom Tamre maintains a fairly neutral relationship with. Their relationship is a complex mix of cautious respect, underlying tension, and potential for trade and alliance.
The western mountains are home to a reclusive race of dwarves who have formed a smattering of city-states, known for their skill in mining and forging. Tamre relies on them for precious metals and weapons, but tensions sometimes arise over trade agreements.

Points of Interest

Castle Stormbringer: The mercenary guild known as the Stormbringers are headquartered in the lower reaches of the Mountains of the Sun, the land granted to them by Tamre with the understanding that if ever Tamre needed a defense, the Stormbringers would be a part of it. Whether or not the Stormbringers have any intention of honoring this deal is up for debate and so far has not been tested.
City of the Sun: The ruins of the City of the Sun, a legendary lost city rumored to hold immense wealth, lie deep within the Mountains of the Sun, guarded by fierce griffins and perilous mountain passes.
Corduba: This ancient city, nestled amongst olive groves, is a center of learning and home to the famed University of Cordoba, renowned for its scholars and magical academies.
Espoir: The capital city is a dazzling metropolis with whitewashed buildings, bustling plazas filled with dancers and musicians, and a magnificent cathedral dedicated to Sol (the name Tamreans use for God).
Formation: 300 PS
Government Type: Confederation
Imports: manufactured goods, luxury goods from C'Saidin
Exports: horses, agricultural products (fine olive oil), textiles and ceramics
Regional Dialect: The Tamrean accent has a distinct sound. Listeners often notice a lisping quality due to the pronunciation of "c" before "e" and "i" (think "theta" in "think" instead of "s"). Vowels can be clearer and shorter than in standard Common, and consonants are generally stronger. The intonation pattern are flatter, with less variation in pitch, making questions sound like statements at times. This "lisp" and stronger consonants are the hallmarks of the Tamrean accent.
Historian's Note: Scattered across the Tamrean countryside are ancient standing stones, weathered and mysterious. Some say they're markers of forgotten kingdoms, others whisper they hold some arcane power. Scholars study them, mystics meditate beside them, and some even claim the stones hold whispers of the past, waiting to be deciphered by the worthy.
