Aspenshield Forest

Aspenshield Forest is home to many, Elves, Forest Gnomes, Werewolves, Centaur, and all manner of Fey and beasts. The Elven capital of Aspenshield is ruled by one of the oldest beings on Starhelm, the Crystal Queen. It is a beautiful but cold city that holds ancient secrets and power. The Elves there are haughty and arrogant, knowing that they are the reason Azdurok does not sweep across the north and conquer it. While everyone in the north respects and fears the Crystal Queen, they do not necessarily appreciate her or like her. Many tribes, villages, and settlements do their best to avoid contact with Aspenshield, while others curry as much favour as they can from the High Elves there. The further north one goes the more chaotic and free the people are. The rule of Aspenshield Forest is technically under the control of the Crystal Queen but she does not really hold any sway over the northern edges of the forest. The rest of the area accepts her ultimate rule and she brooks no dissent, but she also does not bother with much of it, leaving it to those who live there. The law of the wild takes precedence throughout much of Aspenshield Forest but the law of the Crystal Queen is ultimate in the city. She expects those under her care to follow her unquestioningly and they need to take definitive action. Her decisions are final and she demands her people to no longer sit around and wait for something to happen.
