Brightmeed

The small town of Brightmeed is located a couple days walk north of Evansgrove. Founded by the intrepid folk-hero Lady Woodshoes, the small farming community is home to a few hundred humans, all Rathmeyeran. The town primarily export grains, corns, and lumber from the adjacent Faerun Forest. They also are famous for a tart apple mead that has made them quite famous to the surrounding countryside. The people are simple and mostly kind to visitors, but they have a great deal of superstition.

History

Brightmeed has a simple history connected with the Faerun Forest. In the time during the reign of the Fiendlords, the Gnomes controlled the vast forest, ruled over by a cruel and greedy enchantress known as the Gilt-Leaf Queen, or the Queen of Beauty. The gnomes were slowly being pushed further and further in to the forest by the approaching armies of the fiends, but stood in opposition of anyone not gnomish. Shortly after the expulsion of the Fiendlords by the revolts that lead to their defeat, the Queen of Beauty attempted to reassert her control over the country surrounding her forest. Her greed could never be satiated.   Those who fought against the Gilt-leaf Queen were led by a short of stature human archer known as Lady Woodshoes. With her magical bow and a heroic effort, Lady Woodshoes Banished the Gnome Queen to reside in the Feywild. As such, the gnomes retreated to the Feywild to be with their queen. Lady Woodshoes and her army settled Brightmeed and a statue was made in her honor. To this day the Woodshoe family has owned the Feyway Inn near the entrance to Brightmeed. Ever since Brightmeed has existed in relative harmony. Though recent events have shook things up quite a bit. As threats from the Fearun Forest have begun to reappear.
