Esta Troia

This city-state is located in the eastern highlands of Alagend, between the Conde Petie Mountains, separating it from the forest-realm of Cleyra, and the Tellus Mountains. It has a strong military tradition, long-standing as a bastion against invasion from the lands beyond, and draws warriors from across Alagend to its many fighting arenas. The hum of machines and plumes of steam rise ever from the factories of Esta Troia.   Esta Troia’s power comes from The Great Crystal of Earth, which fertilizes its soil and gifts it with the strongest stonework in Alagend.

History

The Liberation of the Hrothgar

In the early days of Esta Troia, the city was a place of suffering and despair. It was established as a brutal slave camp for the Hrothgar people, who were oppressed by the malevolent Summoners of Madain Sari. For generations, Hrothgar slaves toiled under the yoke of their oppressors, their cries for freedom echoing through the unforgiving rocky terrain of the Tellus Mountains.   The turning point came with the emergence of a charismatic Hrothgar leader, Khimari the Unbroken. Khimari, a warrior of indomitable spirit, united the oppressed masses with a vision of liberation. His fiery speeches ignited a spark of hope among the downtrodden, and a secret network of resistance began to take shape.   In a daring and bloody uprising, the Hrothgar slaves, supported by sympathizers from other lands, overthrew the tyrannical Summoners and claimed Esta Troia as their own. The Great Uprising, as it came to be known, was marked by heroic deeds and immense sacrifice.

Reign of Khimari the Unbroken

Following the liberation, Esta Troia entered an era of reconstruction and renewal under the monarchy. The city's infrastructure was rebuilt, and the rocky terrain was tamed to create the cobblestone streets and plazas that define the city today. The former slave quarters were transformed into vibrant neighborhoods, each one a testament to the resilience and diversity of Esta Troia's inhabitants.   Under the leadership of King Khimari the Unbroken, who became the city's first monarch, Esta Troia began to flourish. The principles of justice, freedom, and equality were upheld by the monarchy, laying the foundation for a more just society.

Rise of the Second Dynasty

Khimari reigned for nearly 50 years before his passing. While he had many sons, none were declared heir to the throne. This situation saw a pivotal moment in Esta Troia's history with the ascension of King Rajan. In the time since the Uprising, the Hrothgar people had splintered along trible lines, each forming behind one of Khimari's many sons. The very real possibility of civil war arose, as no clear line of succession had been established. On the even of open conflict, the leaders of the Hrothgar tribes met and it was agreed that the heir would be determined in open combat. Each son agreed, and gathered in a great ring at the base of the mountain. There they fought until Rajan stood victorious over the rest.   Under King Rajan's reign, the city continued to grow and evolve. The district known as the Champion's District was established, celebrating martial prowess and valor with grand arenas and prestigious military academies. Esta Troia's cultural identity expanded, blending the traditions of the Hrothgar with those of other communities that flocked to the city in search of freedom and opportunity.

Modern Day

Today, Esta Troia stands as a beacon of hope and resilience, a living testament to the power of determination and unity under monarchy. Its colossal walls, once used to imprison the oppressed, now protect its citizens and celebrate their freedom. Monuments and statues throughout the city pay tribute to the heroes of the Great Uprising and the leaders who have shaped its destiny.   Visitors to Esta Troia experience a city where the past is not just preserved but celebrated, where the echoes of suffering have given way to the symphony of resilience and renewal. It is a place where history and modernity coexist, and where the future shines bright with the promise of a better world for all under the benevolent rule of Queen Duska Thgarik.
