Ghost

Ghosts are created when the Soul of a dead person remains somewhat intact, albeit fractured, after death. This can occur when a person has an incredible amount of willpower, or when they died a violent or otherwise quite unusual death.   Ghosts typically appear to be somewhat translucent. The more powerful a ghost is, the more opaque it typically is. They also may sometimes seem to flicker. The appearance of a ghost typically resembles how the person looked when they died.

Types of Ghost

  • Echo - Echoes replay certain events over and over again. This event is typically their death, but can potentially be any event of great significance. They are capable of being seen and making noises. Unlike most ghosts, Echoes don't look the way they did when they died. Instead, they look the same as they did at the time of the event they're echoing.
  • Revenant - Revenants are created through especially violent and traumatic deaths. They intend to take revenge on those that caused their deaths but typically can't distinguish between them and other, vaguely similar, people. They are capable of being seen, making noises, moving large objects, and sometimes manifesting semi-physically.
  • Apparition - Apparitions don't do much aside from simply making their presence known. They are capable of being seen, making noises, and sometimes moving small objects.
  • Wraith - Wraiths are different from other ghost types, in that their souls are completely intact, having been placed in a Phylactery by a Talamaur. Because of this, they completely retain their sapience, personality, and memories. They are capable of being seen and manifesting semi-physically. Wraiths typically look how they looked when they were captured, but a skilled Talamaur can change the appearances of their wraiths.
  • Shade - Shades mimic normal daily life. They are capable of being seen, speaking, and interacting with objects.
  • Death Omen - There used to be a ghost classification known as Death Omens. As the name implied, they were thought to appear to people to foretell their deaths. However, this classification is no longer considered valid, as these "Death Omens" were found to actually be Revenants that liked to stalk their victims.
  • Sluagh - A Sluagh is a type of ghost found only in Faerie, specifically in Duairlacht. It is essentially tethered to its former body, which is also reanimated. Like wraiths, their Souls are intact, however in this case, they are twisted and corrupted, almost beyond recognition.
