Raiju
Raiju are a degenerated form of Kasha, originating from failed experiments that were intended to create a sort of "living battery".
Basic Information
Anatomy
Raiju look like misshapen Kasha, who have reverted to primarily moving around on all fours. They have retained their magical abilities of electricity and necromancy, but no longer have control over the latter.
Genetics and Reproduction
Raiju reproduce sexually and are viviparous. Their gestation period is nine months and they are typically born in litters of five or more.
Ecology and Habitats
Raiju generally prefer temperate climates.
Dietary Needs and Habits
Raiju are carnivorous and are not very adaptable. They generally use their electricity ability for hunting.
Additional Information
Social Structure
Raiju typically live in packs.
Domestication
Raiju can be domesticated, but among Narakans, doing so is not socially acceptable.
Geographic Origin and Distribution
Average Intelligence
Raiju have slightly more intelligence than most animals, but are not sapient.
Perception and Sensory Capabilities
Raiju have above-average eyesight, including effective night vision, exceptional senses of hearing and smell, and are otherwise average. They also have whiskers, which are very sensitive to touch.
History
Raiju were originally created by a Narakan mage. Roughly a year prior, the mage had made a deal with an Unseelie Fae: one of their advanced weapons, which she desired in order to get rich hunting in the wilderness, in exchange for something of equal value later. This was successful, but to her surprise, the Fae didn't contact her again. A year later, she received a message from the Fae, telling her that because she had become quite wealthy due to the weapon she had received, that she now had to give that much more back in exchange. She was outraged, but because the wording of the deal was vague, there was nothing she could do; breaking a deal with a Fae is known to be suicidal, if you're lucky. The Fae asked her to create a "living battery", a creature that could, on its own, generate electricity to power the Unseelie's machinery. To this end, the mage kidnapped and experimented upon a multitude of Kasha, eventually creating the first raiju. Unfortunately for her, her creations escaped her laboratory, destroying much of it and killing her in the process. They rampaged through the city for a while, before escaping to the wilderness. The mage, having broken the deal, albeit unintentionally, was posthumously cursed. Because of this, no one could safely get near her corpse, and so it was left to rot in her ruined laboratory. To this day, the laboratory has remained untouched.Remove these ads. Join the Worldbuilders Guild
