The Hess River

The Hess river winds northward from the Sea of Gold then hooks sharply to the west until it disappears into the Razor's Edge mountain range. Defining the border between Vesmos and Kaisu, it serves as a trade route, carrying goods from the port of Isomor inland and goods such as lumber and crops to the city.

Fauna & Flora

The Hess River brings life to everything it touches. It is rich in perch, trout and all other manner of fish, attracting waterfowl, wild cats, and even bears. Its mossy banks are alive with frogs, lizards and snakes. Mosquitos, water striders, and dragonflies flit above its surface. Along its banks sprout berry bushes, cattails, and wild flowers, thriving off the mineral-rich water flowing from the mountain.

Natural Resources

Many villagers make their living fishing on the banks of the Hess River, and as a source of fresh water it is invaluable, but it's true value lies in its use as a trade route. Riverboats carry goods and travelers to and from Isomor, trading and spreading commerce along the way. Faster and safer than taking a road through the woods, the river has become the primary road connecting Vesmos, Kaisu, and Lasceye.
